Man...I never had trust in Cal...weak blockerside.. too deep...no confidence...now we need to scrap this non D...Defenceman bs...Kopitar and Kempe just don't play right...they should be the 3rd line..Kopitar just got slow...he was an amazing player but now is 3rd line quality....we need some stable D pick up a 2nd line center..for 22 and 13..and roll 3 quality lines...fire the coach...we play like the playoff sharks. In the regular season...it's great we can score...but our D is Swiss cheeze...doughnut included...

I didn't think the hole could be bigger than Hatter's mom...but I was proven wrong there...

Why blame Cal when you can blame Blake? Booooooo!

I've called it the day Benedict Blakee was hired that we'd never see another Cup as long as he's the GM... I think it's a deliberate effort to sabotage this team because we booed him as an "active" player...

Can you elaborate on that? I didn't notice anything and will have to go back to the recording now.

the only thing i saw was that he looked pretty upset about the final goal, and smashed his stick on the bench on the way to the locker room. Which, given how the night went, is to kind of be expected. If there's more than that, id be interested to hear about it.

/EDIt - just saw answer above. Sounds like nothing more than player frustrated at how the night, and his season, has gone so far.

He more or less headbutt the ice after the goal, then threw something as he was skating I believe, then got to the bench and smashed the stick as hard as he could. It could have carried into the locker room is what I'm guessing, or it was just normal frustration. Who knows. Just my guess.

The Kings evaluate goalie talent at an elite level so it’s perfectly obvious why Cal is thought of so highly. He’s got the skills to be a high end starting goalie in the NHL. What is surprising is how the mental side of the game has failed him over the past two seasons. He’s lost the game in his mind before he steps on the ice and it’s holding back his play once he gets between the pipes. Who knows if he’ll ever get over the mental blocks. But if he does he’s capable of being a starter. Right now he’s completely lost.

What's Tony Robbins up to these days? He helped Kelly Hrudey resurrect his career during the '92-'93 season when seemed over.

You mean Copely...

I think he can come in and get on a hot streak. We've seen it time and time again in the NHL with "washed up" / AHL / veteran / journeymen netminders. Goaltending, unless you are flat out elite, is just a fickle, head scratching position sometimes. With or without a competent defense.

Yeah weird, I really thought they would bring up Villalta given how well he has been doing with the Reign this season. Copely is definitely in a better position to step right in and contribute though (and they probably don't want to scar Villalta for life just yet by playing behind a horrible defense) but I wonder what that means from a timeshare perspective between Villalta and Petersen.

I just hope this doesn't turn into 2007-08!!

Aubin, Bernier, Cloutier, Ersberg, LaBarbera, Quick, Taylor

Don't forget Fukufuji! Although that may have been the year before. Either way, that was a dumpster fire of a goalie experiment that thankfully ended with 32. Dan Cloutier, I still shake my head at that one.

Go Kings!!!

If I'm on the Reign and I'm a goalie, I would not want to be sent to the NHL club, zero defense in front of you. You'll be ruined.

Not true. These guys should want the promotion regardless of the circumstances. It’s like an instant x10 pay raise, plus a chance to prove you’re the real deal, and keep that pay raise

Any goalies out there the Kings should be looking at? Unfortunately I think two of the good candidates play in our division, being Demko and Gibson. Gibson has played pretty well this year on a TERRIBLE Ducks squad, but I suspect they would be very unlikely to deal him to someone within the division, in particular to the Kings. However, I do get the sense that Gibson would absolutely jump at the chance to get out of Anaheim, given that they don’t appear to be planning to compete again for at least 2-3 seasons after this.

Pretty sure he was busted for general misogyny and sexual harrassment claims, not sure if his "cases" have settled. Still your guy?

Yikes! Did not know that and obviously would not have suggested him had I known (I was pretty much kidding anyway). I just was recalling how he helped turned Hrudey's career around. But, that was 30 years ago.

“I think it’s a wakeup call for everybody in the organization. If you’re not performing … we all need to perform better. I think that’s just the bottom line,” defenseman Drew Doughty said.

“Defensively we’ve been really, really shaky for a lot of games and we haven’t helped our goaltending at all, to be honest. It’s a wakeup call to everybody. We need to step up and play better. We have a better team than we’ve shown this year. That’s it.”
