GDT ***Carolina Hurricanes vs. LA Kings GDT 10/18/25 >>6:00pm<< EARLY START on FanDuel***

Turcotte played 09:10 tonight and thru the first 6 games he’s averaged around that much of ice time. And that total is really boosted by the game against Pittsburgh where he for some mysterious reason got to play a whopping 14:16 minutes.

What a total waste of a young talent by Hiller…
Not to sound like a broken record, but he truly is just not big enough and does t play like Marchand.

He's big enough to be an effective playmaker, which is what he is. The fact Hiller keeps giving him such limited minutes, despite him being visible when he is on the ice is mind blowing. With Kopitar out, this is the perfect time for Turcotte to log top 9 minutes at center and show what he can do.

But Hiller clearly has other plans...

I had to see how Laf did on faceoffs. And he was a disaster. He went 2/12 for 16.6%. However, the whole team was a disaster, going 28/74 for 37.8%. The only one who did well was Danault who went 14/22 for 63.6%. Take him out & the rest of the team went 14/52 for 26.9%. Stoll needs to do extra work with these guys.

I don’t know. I’m happy we got the point. But it doesn’t feel the same as the Wild game. After that disaster of a game against Pittsburgh they needed to come out firing. And they allowed a goal in 12 seconds & 2 in the 1st 4 minutes. To Jordan Staal, who I forgot was still in the league. And while I wished he’d made some saves, none of those goals were Forsberg’s fault. Or Ceci’s. It was all the forwards making bad decisions. In fact this was the 1st real good game by Forsberg. He made big saves to keep them in the game & get them to OT. But again, a dumb decision by Fiala to try & make a hit on the OT winner. I’m glad we got the point. But if they’d been ready to play they could’ve had 2.

I think this whole season is the time to find out what we have in Turcotte & if he can take over the 2C position. And I don’t know if there’s something in practices that we’re not seeing. But he’s getting no opportunities in games. And if they’re moving Laf to center & putting him in Kopi’s spot, maybe that tells us what they think of Turcotte. Sometimes I really don’t understand what Hiller’s thinking.

Did no one else see Foegle say "F***ing Coward" when on the bench just after Hiller chose not to challenge? If that is what he said, that is not a good sign.

I could easily be wrong, but it seemed like that is what he said, he was pissed.

Just looked at the DVR replay, at the stoppage in play at 14:00 he looks to say "F**ing Coward".
He definitely said that! And that’s not a great sign of things outside of the ice!

When Turcotte puts on 10-15lbs, maybe you will get your wish. He’s no where nearly as effective as the fanboys delusions are telling them.

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed Staal for the first goal and/or that the dmen would be credited with 5 points for both teams:

Both (2 points):
Rogie-Vachon
DRice

Staal (1 point):
Drum4Pigs
beady eye
Rog or Reg?

5 d points (1 point):
Guinevere
motolare
symbology
RoS
Nysaa42
HiFi

This team is forever interesting. I'll give it that. Still can't process this record other than to say the highs for this team have been higher and the lows have been lower. Even keel is probably playoffs but these are stormy seas.

I had 5 points, too. 👍🏻

Seeing as how you supplied zero facts to support your argument, how do you explain this?

"This season, Turcotte is leading the Kings in Corsi For % at 63.2% which is a 10-point jump from last season. The Kings clearly are a better team with him on the ice, and according to MoneyPuck, he leads the team in On-Ice Expected Goals % at 74.1%"

The only thing I can imagine is that Hiller wanted to try to get Laf going by pairing him up with Kempe (perhaps also see if Laf can step into a the center role if needed).

It seems like HIller is all about number of games played and Turcs does not yet meet the quota to be given any serious consideration by him,

Evan Rodrigues is 5-11, same weight. Nazem kadri is 1 inch bigger, same weight. W. Karlsson is 1 inch bigger and 10 pounds heavier. Point and Gourde are both smaller.

Basically the last 5 SC winners all had key top 6/9 center players around the same size as Turcotte.

I mean...it would be nice if he were bigger, but Turcotte's success does not hinge on his size, and neither does LA Kings' success. At this point it's either something we don't know (maybe doctors are preventing him more than 10min/game for the rest of his career in order to not become tired during the game and thus more likely to get coimplacent and at bigger risk of being hit and get another, potentially career-ending concussion?) OR it's the coach.
