***Chicago Blackhawks vs. LA Kings EARLY START GDT 3/24/22 7:00pm on ESPN+ & Hulu***

BTW, is the rule for offsides in hockey, that an offensive player cannot be below the last player on defense?

Lol. I see what you did there. Having had daughters play soccer for 15 years or so (and I was a ref), there were still many soccer parents that don't get offsides.

3 on 3 was incredible the first few years. Remember how much fun Kopi - Carts - Doughty vs. Toews - Kane - Keith used to be? It was inevitable that coaches would adapt strategies to shift to their advantages. If I had Kane and DeBrincat available for a shootout, I'd delay too. It does make sense for the league to gently adapt the format with rule changes to keep it exciting. I'd much rather see it decided in OT play instead of the shootout.

I think Drew has been out at most practices but just lobbing pucks, no shooting. Kopi out today, most likely a maintenance day.

Yeah....I got sidetracked and didn't finish my post very well.....Drew ended up skating pretty hard at the end of practice but NO puckhandling. (he did have a stick in his hands, though) He was skating with Edler, who was doing the same drill, but with pucks.
I also left out the part where Lemieux went back to the bench very early and broke his stick into a million pieces in frustration. Not sure if it was because whatever issue he has is still bugging him, or if he was just frustrated to not be able to perform how he wanted, but he was very, very not happy.

Also....I would hate to have a job where the random public could just come and watch me from 6 feet away while I'm trying to accomplish something and I'm supposed to pretend like they just don't exist.

I'd hate the having to do a terrible interview part more, but getting paid bulljillions to play a game I love would even it out.

On this point, I have to disagree.

Professional athletes know the fan experience is part of the deal. They are being well-compensated for playing a game they love to play. And the bottom line is sports is a form of entertainment, and without the fans, they would be out of a job.

When the big stars refuse to sign autographs or are otherwise put out because of being hounded by fans or unable to go to their favorite restaurant because they are worried they will be bothered...well, boo-freakin-hoo. Deal with it, or quit and go dig a ditch in the rain or go sit in a cubicle for 40 hours a week.

There are a lot of worse things they could be doing for a living.

I would have no problem with this. Just a matter of if it's 3v3 or 5v5. I think the concern on the latter is that it would prolong games for much too long while 3v3 could likely be decided well inside a 20 minute OT.

Exactly. I'd guess 80% of games would finish in under 10 minutes. More players would play and more chances & breakdowns
would happen. There is no checking in 3x3 so the only issue is more skating which isn't that big of a deal.

Reading on Twitter he had a setback and didn't practice today. Maybe that's what you saw was an aggravated injury.

Brendan Lemieux had a setback, wasn't on ice, not available at present.

coach wouldn't elaborate but his level of frustration shown at end of his ice time, isn't a good sign.

How could Kempe have missed from point blank range?
