***Colorado Avalanche vs. LA Kings GDT 3/15/22 7:30pm on BSW***

Is the Reign's pp this bad? Or does the big club infect the young guys with inability to score? (Or even make a pass on the pp?)

It’s amazing to me that no matter what combination of personnel is sent out on a PP, they all suck. They can’t make a 10’ pass with a man advantage. There have to be major systemic, coaching and special teams player changes before next season.

For what the Kings have on the ice tonight, they played a great game. Just the skill and tenacity of the Avs is way too much for the Kings. They are on every pass, every loose puck, better positioning. This is a great learning experience for the Kings young players.

Not unexpected, one goal game five on five. Special teams absolutely horrible. Blake and group need to address this. Even if you’re mediocre you can get to the playoffs and compete but to be nearly last in every category demands a “structural” change. No movement, passing player to player, is passing practice nor PP movement. PK no sticks in lanes again a bunch of orange cones playing four corner zone defense. Special teams need to be special = hard work, working harder than five on five. This team is taking breaks on special teams, not working

wow...I'm impressed with Olli Maatta's press conference here. He is very well spoken. Future coach material!

Do you think the players dread the PP as much as we do?

it's got to be frustrating to them. Like....is it the coaches holding them back and making them play it a certain way? Or can they just not get it to click? Kopi's frustration the other night in his press conference and then his outburst tonight makes me think there is some friction there.

I have no problem with them losing to a far superior team, Colorado is a scary good team. But how the special teams can continue to be this bad for several years is beyond me! I also don’t get why they call up a red-hot Lias Andersson who has scored 6 times in 4 AHL games, let him play one game where I actually think he did pretty fine and then just scratch him again. Why??

from the complaints I am seeing about the drumming, I think I am glad that this is the first home game I have not been in attendance for all season.

oh geeez....I hear it now on TV.....and they are directly across from my seats, and the sound bounces directly to my section

The fact I can hear it thru the TV, during play, annoys the hell out of me. And they have banners. Don't let these fools bring drums in please?

How do we clone Justin Williams? Seems like he's the only guy that Kopitar has ever blossomed under.

To answer my own question, I think Palat is the closest.

Kopitar has to be hurt. It’s the only thing that makes sense to me. I know he’s getting older but he is better than this. Guarantee he is trying to play through something.

This is often the speculation. Most times it hasn’t been the case. I think the cure is to break up that line. My greater concern is with Iafallo. Dude has no game at all.

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed the AHL'ers would combine for 0 points against the Avalanche:

The post game said alot. There's pride and frustration regarding the special teams and the 5v5 play. The av's looked very much like a team that's going to win 70% of their games, which makes a team that's only going to win 60% of their games look far worse. Much like the beginning of the season looking at the younger guys and seeing what they're trying out there is still the baseline of enjoying a kings game and this one was oddly watchable. We can Kopi this or AI that or Kempe whatever, but honestly watching Spence, Durzi and seeing how they can actually get to a puck vs Strand and Wolanin who have to be very good with their sticks because the hemming in is coming. It just goes to show how those skill types of players do tip a balance, and should offer a reset in the expectations of what the D core can grow into. I'll also say I totally understand a coaches frustration with Frk in a game like this. Trevor Moore though was an extremely bright spot. That kid was not phased by Colorado at all.

If AI really is suffering from Covid aftereffects (which is absolutely a real thing), I trust the medical staff has poured over the research that all the premier league and nba clubs have put out. I don't know what the answer is but clearly he's been missing that oomph factor that gets him to the places to be effective.

For sure. How long do you keep going with a line that just doesn’t get anything done.

I'd put Iafallo on Lizotte's line so he would have find the grittier side of his game again. If that didn't work, he would have to be scratched. Lias might be a better fit right now with Kopi and Kempe. But with Kopitar looking like he's dragging an anvil behind him lately, I don't see much chemistry between Kopi and Juice either.
