***Detroit Red Wings vs. LA Kings GDT 1/4/24 7:30pm on BSW***

Frenzy on Figeuroa is still my all-time favorite sports moment. I know I know, the Cups. But the swing of going down potentially 3 games to 1 to 2-2 and eventually winning the series is such a quantum leap of emotion. Especially against the hated Red Wings.
Yep. No doubt about it.

What was most magical was the fact NO ONE left the arena, and the Kings had been outplayed the entire game. It was almost like we all had a feeling we'd come back and win. After the first goal, you could feel the energy in the building grow. Then after the second goal, that place came alive. It was like the entire arena became a living, breathing, throbbing, tangible thing. 18,000 people became one. And the Red Wings could feel it too. The energy was almost overwhelming.

Of course, when we tied it, that place were batshit bonkers.

Definitely my favorite all-time sports moment.

For all the epic Kings games I've seen in my life, including The Miracle of Manchester, The Great One's first game, the first Cup Final played in LA, etc, etc, The Frenzy on Figueroa is still my favorite Kings game of all-time. Not only did I have great seats for that one, it was my birthday on top of it all.

I was on TV leading an impromptu parade down Figueroa after the game. I'm a big guy, but somebody actually picked me up and was carrying me around after we tied the game up in regulation.

I've been to close to 750 sporting events in my life, and I've never heard a sound like that collective roar in Staples Center when the Kings won that game.

It was freaking awesome!
It’s unforgettable for me because it’s what made me a fan. I was a sophomore in High School so I hadn’t had that moment yet where I cared on my own. I remember the 93 Finals and my mom reading to me about the Game 7 TOR win out of the LA Times. I remember my parents being so heartbroken over losing to MTL that it really bothered me too, but I was just a kid.

But that DET 3 game win? Like a light switch. I became a die-hard in a matter of minutes.

I have a funny feeling the Kings win tonight. I think we're going to see a sustained effort for 60 minutes.

You three have to tell me the secret of getting four guesses to a question that specified three guesses. Are you taking @Nyssa42 and @jammer06 to breakfast? Do you have a golden ticket? I'se gots to know. :whip:

when people make too many guesses, jammer & I have agreed that we just go with their first 3 guesses. I'll give them a pass since the first part of the question is a repeat from the other night - and, yes, I totally expect that I have jinxed our boys yet again!
I was gonna allow 4 guesses for part 2, but then it would be possible to cover pretty much the entire 1st period - which you can still come pretty close if you make all 3 guesses in the 1st.

oh, and we find out who our All Star Game dude is later tonight. Here are the East Coast All Star reps
