It is, though it mostly impacts how early DD will be back. He should come back without too much lingering issues unless there the fracture is super complicated or there is some rare issue with the surgery scar healing process.

Bottom line is...if he's out 2 months longer due to surgery that means two things:
- the fracture is more likely to be aligned properly from the start (I know of cases whete surgery wasn't necessary so the patient opted out...then the fracture dislocated a little bit, thus requiring surgery later or else a misaligned bone would heal which could cause issues later on
- if the Kings s*** a** without DD and are far out of the playoff race by the time he returns, there's a small but not insignificant possibility the upper management goes ape s*** and fires Luc, Marc and Rob
