Drew Doughty redemption season?

I'd say we could start our "reggae Friday" songs again for the summer. But, at a certain point, it was just you and me dolphin. We had our fun. =) Onward and upward.

I might do a Reggae Friday here and there. I just didn't feel like doing it all Summer this year. ;)

He's always at his best when trying to make Team Canada, so I think he's going to have a great start and is likely training hard this summer because even though he did well in the Four Nations (better as it went on) most predictions have him off the team. It means everything to him.

Given the improved quality of the division, the Kings need to do a bit more than recycle last season's pace. With top-minute guys a year older, I am a bit worried that if some younger guys don't step up -- like Clarke -- the Kings could slip 4 to 8 points, or worse.

Agreed.
Byfield is going to have to improve on his 23 G season, Moore on his 18 and Kuz is going to have to earn his pay this year. Players like Foegele, Laferriere, Fiala and Kempe are going to have to at the very least maintain their production. Kopitar I'm worried about - just hope he can maintain his play this season.
Nice to haves would be Turcotte, Clarke and some of our 4th liners getting double digit goals.
Not to be lost in all this, Kuemper will need another Vezina worthy season with Forsberg being steady in his backup role.

THE CUP IS OURS!

Well, I think the time is now for the nucleus to start their upward trajectories and that definitely includes the younger ones that came via very high draft picks. No disrespect to Kopi and Doughty, but this team is now built around the other players.
I will take Kempe and Fiala at 35 goals. It’s Moore, Kuzmenko, etc who need to produce, and of course it’s the trio of Byfield, Laffy & Clarke who must take the next steps.

Which is my issue. He can "try" when it's King and country but if its a throwaway season, minus 38 it up*.

Aside: my phrasing is joke based, it still made me giggle, it stays.

Illegal: Your avatar is a gallagher and I just read the Verve is opening for the Oasis reunion tour, that might be the most 90's (brit pop) thing, ever. Was Jay Kay not available? lol. That whole tour looks hilariously great.

*been drinking hater-ade for the gaped tooth one since 2017, but have adopted the more chill play the cards you're dealt stage of fandom.

This has always been my frustration too, as much as I love him, there seems to be this ability to find another gear for Canada (and I'm Canadian so appreciate that side of it) but when it's not an Olympic year I always feel like - oh nothing to play for this year.... just 11 million dollars.

As for Oasis - lol. North America doesn't get the 90s fest, no Verve - we get Cage the Elephant instead. Should've stayed on that 90s brand and gotten the Verve Pipe. I did see Noel Gallagher with Smashing Pumpkins a few years ago in Toronto though so maybe my 90s quota has been met for a few years.

*sigh* Doughty is going to Doughty, hence the lack of "C". That tiger is not changing his stripes so, take the good (as a Canadian) with the ...mediocre (comparatively, calm down). =)

European tours for the W. Another deep sigh, although your Smashing Pumpkins/Oasis double bill is a little bit of a humble brag (laughing), love it. Although I've hung out with enough self-proclaimed music critics that love to talk about the "worst show" they've ever seen (read: artist did not care/people talking due to how bad the show is going, etc.) and Wilco/Smashing Pumpkins are a 1a and 1b. Hope you had a different experience.

Leaving with a positive, I stole this from a comment on Reddit from Doughty's former nemesis Cup day: "Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cagggggge."

Ha ha ha. I loathe the Smashing Pumpkins so we left during their part, Noel went on first. Then last summer we saw Green Day and who opens? Smashing Pumpkins. Never understood the appeal personally, but I love Oasis and I know many think they are garbage lol so I don't get too heavy on the bashing other bands.

Fair. I am really hoping for an Oasis trainwreck by the time they get to North America, like abandoning their set list altogether and just playing Blur's greatest hits kind of crash. Oh the lawsuits.

I watched a doc on the Oasis (working class band) and Blur (posh upper class) rivalry in the 90's pop world that somehow got Tony Blair elected due to Oasis' influence, somehow (?). Hmmm, I may be a dork.

Was a big Oasis fans through their first 4 albums, wasn't a big fan of the last 3. They had some amazing b-sides as well. Also really like Noel's High Flying Birds stuff. Anyways, as for Dewey, not sure he'll have a redemption season. Won't be trash but also won't be an $11M player. Age just catches up to every player. Really hope he just stays healthy and they manage his minutes...will be bad if both of these things don't happen.

This is peak off-season. Who would have thought the internet would find three people who like Oasis* in 2025 and are kind of okay (lie) with Doughty only showing up every 3 years (health pending)? In all the gin joints, eh boys?

August is going to be brutal short of a Holland/Luc freakout.

*the first 4 albums (obvi)

So you don't think the Kings will trade for Jason Robertson...extend him 7 years at 12.5 per which of course he'll gleefully accept because he doesn't care that much about scoring and just LOVES Manhattan Beach?? Such a pessimist!

P.S- With lyrics like 'slowly walking down the hall....faster than a cannonball' how can you be anything short of legendary?

Take him completely off the PK, we certainly have the bodies for that now...

Give Clarke 2 or 3 more shifts on offensive zone faceoffs...

It's the logical thing to do, so Hiller will do the exact opposite.
