Best Captain we've had. A warrior. Class act. I will truly miss him. I also sincerely appreciate that he's not trying to stick around longer than he should, or bounce around the league in minor roles. I will be there when his jersey goes to the rafters!!!

Yep, will be rockin the Brown sweater that I just picked up during the last gm of the season!

Not only did Brown literally bleed for this team and Captain them to two Stanley Cups, he quietly stepped aside and allowed management to take away his C and give it to Kopitar without so much as a passive aggressive off-handed quote to the media. Brown is a 100% class act and sure he won't make it to the HOF but his number will hang from the rafters for as long as there's a franchise. What a career.

Some of us have been thinking that he should retire this season, but when it actually happens, it's sad in an anticipatory nostalgia kind of way. Class act. Hope he gives the Oilers hell for old time sake. Oh, Brownie.

I'd like to see him score a playoff goal at home. The roof will come off.

Dude! I'm seriously crying just reading that statement. I. Can't. Even.

Can anyone "remind" me who his first linemates were? And, if we shoot him a text will Nordstrom stop by a playoff game for Brown?

Per Lakings insider:
"He skated on a line with Ziggy Palffy and Jozef Stumpel in his first NHL game in Detroit on October 9, 2003, a night he faced Hall of Famers Chris Chelios..."

Me and my kid are sitting here teared up a little bit. It was her first sports player hero. Best captain on and off the ice a team could ask for. Still like to know who took the C off him. He’s
Class act all around.
But I do wonder why he’s announcing now. He’s five regular season games away from 1300. I’d really like to see him stick around one more year for these kids coming up. He’s got to be a really good mentor to them.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

Bruh! I'd say that line was 2003 DANGEROUS. Get a call out to Ziggy too, get the whole band back together for Brown.

I saw this coming, mainly basing it off of his upcoming expiring contract. He had a nice resurgence in 17/18 and has been been decent since. No one here will ever forget his achievements for sure. For all the crap he took, mainly from here, haha, he will be missed.

God ? such a great guy. So many good memories. So many great plays ? dude gave it his all for his team and made this grown man cry when he lifted the Cup both times. Sad to see him retire but glad to see him retire while he was still on his game.

Lets call this a "trade rumor" so he comes out tonight with a hattie to quell all the nay sayers..

I remember Hockey Fest 2009, at LA Live. Dustin got the whole team to show up early and start getting ready for the season. He also gave a pretty good speech to the crowd considering his shyness.

A huge thanks in order for Dustin! It was great watching him over the years and I never doubted his love for this team for even a minute. He really poured his heart into being a King and was a true champion. He'll be missed and I hope he enjoys a long and happy retirement with his family.

Brown has done a termendous job as a Kings player and captain. He captained the two stanley cup wins that the kings have. I hope the organization really let him know how much they appreciate his accomplishments for the Kings. Wish him the best in retirement.

Congrats on playing all your years here, Brownie.

I'm glad he didn't go anywhere else.

Awww Brownie. Thanks for your immediate dedication to this franchise and sticking around during the summer when no one else would, for bringing up Drew those early years, for laying down some of the most exciting hits the last decade plus, and for this utter work of art:

In OT. To clinch the series against the Oilers.

But even if that doesn?t happen, he?s had a fantastic career, and I?m glad he?s retiring before his game deteriorated more.
The time off from injury might have rejuvenated him for one last push.
