This is gonna take a few days to process... Let's hope the kings keep him going till June, I'm sure he won't mind sticking around that long.

Wish he would have announced before the last home game for an awesome ceremony. The man has contributed in so many ways, remember when he lead the league in hits for several years when no one what’d to play against this team. A historic player for this franchise lifting its first cup when I actually cried in front of my family. While lifting the cup after a three month lockout and the honoring the Newtown family is unforgettable. I still get a tear and shiver from that day. It’s only a game but…..raise his number!!

Brownie is wearing the C tonight!!! That is classy and got me all emotional and ****.

Eighteen years with the Kings.
Two Stanley Cups
One sad fan here

I know there have been a lot of players in NHL history that played a long time with the same team, but I wonder how many played more years than Brown with the same team? It's gotta be a fairly short list...I can think of Lidstrom, Sakic, Yzerman and Mikita...but that's all I got off the top of my head.

Thanks for the memories Dustin!

I am changing my Avatar for the playoffs, it will be Brown themed.

I'm thinking back to 2002-2007 when Sean Avery was with the Kings. One time he made some wise-ass remarks abt Brownie having a stutter. Dustin never bothered to even respond to the jerk.

Pretty sure that was Shawn Thornton that responded if I remember right

How Avery isn't locked up in:

a.) Jail
b.) An asylum
or
c.) The Zoo

is beyond me.

It was the logical thing to do. He will go down as one of the alltime great Kings and always gave it everything he had! Thanks,Brownie!

Say what you will about Canadian hockey fans they understand the game and respect players that they had to deal with over their careers. Dustin Brown was a pest for them over the years but in his last game against him they showed respect to him with a pregame response, a game ovation and after the game is over to give me more respect. It is what hockey separates itself from every other professional sport.

Thank you for the 2 cups Brownie! I bought your jersey at the beginning of the season, could think of no other name to exemplify a true King. Congratulations on a great career and thank you for the memories.

For those that didn't see the post game press stuff, apparently it was Kopi's idea to give Brownie the C for tonight. And also, the first game he wore it 13-14 years ago was in Vancouver.

And Boudreau coached Brown in Manchester too. So all kinds of tradition being honored tonight.

And the most important anecdote from McClellan, Brown had made up his mind earlier in the season to retire, but waited until they clinched a playoff spot before making the announcement so as to not disrupt the focus down the stretch.

That last part really says everything.

Thank you Dustin! You will be missed. A Class Act all the way through!!!

As sad as it is to see him go, I'm glad he chose this way to go out. Because it was the last year of his contract, I was afraid when he got injured that might be his last game as a King. Thankfully it wasn't & he's not going to another team. I'm also glad that even though it's his last regular season game, he still has at least 2 more games in front of the LA crowd (hopefully much more). It's kind of weird that the last Kings home game they honored Ryan Getzlaf & not Brown. It's also weird that Vancouver honored him since he destroyed Sedin & their playoff chances in 2012. But very classy on their part.

I can't thank him enough for what he's done, for bringing us 2 Cups & the 18 years of leadership & dedication to this team. Like I said, hopefully there's a long final playoff run for him. But after that I can't wait to see his number 23 raised to the rafters.
