Posters on HF tend to be former banned users here. Too be banned here, you have to be pretty scandalous.

Yeah, I don't have an account. I visit there only after a playoff loss or win and I want more positivity/negativity. Angry place. Very seldom visit. And yeah it'd have to be pretty scandalous indeed.

Imagine hearing these statements from a family in the midst of dealing with unimaginable sadness created by this vicious disease and thinking they're making it all up to make Kings fans look bad... it boggles the mind.

Yup, sadly more than one who may think like this is one too many.
The mental gymnastics I’ve seen people trying to explain how this is some plot, or it’s fake because of Kane is mind numbing.

It’s a pro sport where adults play a game for millions of dollars….it’s got some fans so full of anger and hatred that they cannot see the simple easy universal understanding that cursing at and spitting on a little girl is just plain wrong.

Come on humans, do some deep inner evaluation on yourselves to be better.

And the character to issue a statement like this which defends a major rival’s fanbase at large…humbling.

As far as the spitting, it is likely that the little girl wasn't meant to be the intended recipient of the spitting. Instead she was probably a sort of collateral damage. Two out of control idiots decided to fight in the stands. At least one starts spitting. Maybe they missed the intended target and hit the girl. Maybe the spit landed close enough to the girl that her parent felt like it was intended to hit her. This scenario is not at all hard to believe.

This is my thinking as well. The article doesn't really explain if it actually hit her and she was the intended target or if she was hit as a bystander. Not that in the grand scheme of things that it makes a difference it still is a disgusting occurrence.

I have been the victim of both types of scenarios. I have been directly spit on in the face (trust me it did not turn out well for the spitter :taser:) and while wrestling/fighting I have been a collateral damage victim (My partner "knocked the spit out of that dude")

As far as believing Kane's account of the events my first reaction was to doubt him because of his history #boywhocriedwolf . But after being confirmed by multiple sources I have no doubt about this incident.

I do agree that the Kings should go out of their way to make this right for the girl. She has much more important things to worry about than wearing an Oiler jersey to the opposing teams arena for a hockey game.

The quote from the mother makes it pretty clear: "Cecily was spat on and sworn at for wearing an Oilers jersey, and witnessed a fellow Oiler fan being attacked in the row in front of her."
The mother's quotes makes clear distinctions that she was spat on FOR wearing an Oilers jersey.
The mother's quote makes a separate distinction regarding the fight in front of her with the word AND.
Does not appear to be "collateral" damage from a unrelated fight.

Kings Care auction tonight going to support Cecily and Ben. Nice move by the Kings org.
