Holland and Hiller love vetsThis has got to be the oldest roster the Kings have had since Lombardi was fired.
Fans love youth. Coaches love vets. A tale as old as time.Holland and Hiller love vets
No player with leverage. What’s funny about days like this where the Kings have no problem signing multiple guys to contracts is in 2 months everyone will go back to saying no free agent wants to sign in LA.
Somehow the Kings both overpay every free agent to get them to sign in LA and they sign players nobody else wants. Shrödinger’s UFA.No player with leverage.
Granlund signed with DucksGranlund is still available too (though is appears the Blues are closing in on him)
They are never able to sign A tier UFAs. They sign your Edmundsons, Foegels, Danaults and Cicis. And yes, often have to overpay those B and C tier UFAs the contracts for Edmundson and Cici.Somehow the Kings both overpay every free agent to get them to sign in LA and they sign players nobody else wants. We will grow to like them, especially on the PKDumoulin and Ceci are an upgraded 3rd pair. Now Holland needs to get Byram. My problem is with 44 & 8 potentially getting all the minutes again.
25+ teams fail to sign A tier UFAs. Failing to land the big fish is not unique to the Kings. The fact that they sign complimentary players every offseason should be proof enough that many guys do in fact want to play in LA.They are never able to sign A tier UFAs. They miss out on the top UFAs every time. They've never signed one. And the complementary players usually get more money/term than they should. LA is not Winnipeg, but it's not a super desirable destination, either.25+ teams fail to sign A tier UFAs. Failing to land the big fish is not unique to the Kings. Yet somehow the take away in the wake of another “successful” free agency period will be that players don’t want to sign in LA. Facts be damned.
Is that a good thing or a bad thing, as far as you are concerned? Our young, ‘blue chip’ players have not exactly been lighting the world on fire during the playoffs for us. Meanwhile, guys like Seth Jarvis, Matt Boldy, Anton Lundell out there looking like serious difference makersThis has got to be the oldest roster the Kings have had since Lombardi was fired.
I’ll say it smells of desperation from the top down. The mandate from Luc was to win now at all costs and the result of that is filling the roster with long in the tooth grizzled vets in hopes of willing the team out of the 1st round and maybe under absolute ideal circumstances get through the West.Is that a good thing or a bad thing, as far as you are concerned? People overreact every year we get a D and rarely are they bad. If it's one things the Kings are generally good at, it's making defencemen and goalies better than they were previously known for.Pretty sure I saw this same joke last year using Joel Edmundson. Gotta love it.
Gavrikov was universally panned as a horrible acquisition. HORRIBLE.People overreact every year we get a D and rarely are they bad. If it's one things the Kings are generally good at, it's making defencemen and goalies better than they were previously known for.
