Arty has that great shot but he lacks the instinct to find the open spaces from which he can use it most effectively. He also doesn't seem to have the puck handling skills to create that space for himself. While he has vastly improved his skating, he is still a step behind most of his team mates. But, for me, the most observable negative has been his lack of success in winning board battles or retrieving 50/50 pucks. If he has to play 4th line to crack the lineup, then he has to possess/control loose pucks to make the cycle work.

I think we all wanted him to succeed as the designated sniper, but the rest of his overall game does not seem to match the quality of his shot. Something many were apprehensive about at the draft when he fell to the second round despite his huge goal numbers.

Laf to me shows a higher ceiling as all-around player than Kaliyev, so I don’t mind moving on from Arty for a good piece. He’s looked great since being benched but he’s still failed to this point to play consistently with anyone besides Lizotte. Grundstrom is a fine throw-in and at during the cold streak he’s brought nothing to this team. Roy would be valuable to hold if the Kings were a contender, but when there’s enough evidence they may not be go ahead and sell while you can since Clarke is inevitable anyway.

Clears cap and roster spots and gives early auditions as needed. Works for me.

In order for Roy to be traded this season, the Kings would have to have zero chance to make the playoffs. Which is most likely the case. The defense will take a huge hit physically. Spence and Clarke in the same game at this point, if I'm the opposing team, I would abuse them physically. I do believe the Kings would receive a decent pick and prospect for Roy.

Seen this play before. Let me shed some light on it, he’s not going to. Time to trade him. For a big strapping body.

You should too. His game is the one that is successful in the playoffs, not Kaliyev’s.
