Fire Hiller

I don’t think Kempe is going anywhere.
He’s going to want around $7.5mil/5 years. At least. I don’t know if there’s room for that in the Kings cap. As of today, there isn’t. But it’s increasing by exactly $7.5mil for ‘25-‘26, then up to $104mil in ‘26-‘27. So maybe. 🤷🏼‍♂️ It just depends on if he wants to stay in LA with the Hiller/Blake/Luuuuc combo.

In a perfect world, Kempe would be the next Captain and remain a King for life. But there’s no one in the organization who can fulfill Doughty’s role now that DD is well past his prime. Clarke is definitely not that guy. If a stud LD becomes available, anyone on the team except for Q should be in play.

I think your estimate is about $1 - $1.5 million too low… especially at 5 years.

I think Kempe will get more than that. And he should. If the Kings can retain him at a cap hit of 8M it would be a steal. 9M is more likely.
He’s a complete player with multiple 30+ goal seasons. He’s a must-sign for whatever it takes.

For the challenge, you can see Kane's right skate push Darcy's lower leg over the goal line and this helped pin/keep Darcy from moving to make the save. Not saying he would have.

Even Joaquin Gage who is on ETS said he thought there was maybe a 50/50 chance of the interference call being made. Either way it was risky making that challenge. Hiller was not focusing on the video, he let the video coaches make the call, which is what usually happens. They maybe said it was a 50/50 call and the fact that the Kings were folding may have allowed Hiller to think that a close call was worth pursuing.

I mean it was a dumb challenge but so was letting them skate right in on the powerplay and snipe one in. Kings deserved to lose that series.

What?! It was a great challenge…

I am thinking that maybe this is the year that TMAC would've lead the Kings to the second round because he would've probably made more conventional coaching choices.

BUT, would the Kings have had as good of a regular season and been as good going to the playoffs under TMAC?

And that is really what Hiller has to his defense, that really good regular season record. But comparing that with his awful coaching in the playoffs just makes it more infuriating. He lost his head or maybe was replaced with an Alien pod, lol. :alien:

Him not convincing me that he learned enough from the playoffs has put me on the Fire Hiller Train despite the regular season record. I mean a good regular season only counts if it sets up something bigger otherwise you are just the Sharks. :P

100% agree with this. The Kings need to lock him up ASAP.

Although he has stacked up the minuses over the past 4 post-seasons, Kempe has been the Kings leading scorer for each of those same post-seasons. Not Kopi, not Fiala, not Danualt. Kempe, Kempe, Kempe, and Kempe have led the team. He's had some big games; we need to keep him in a Kings uniform.

The “sit on our heels” frame has been clearly debunked by the coach and particularly by the players by now. It was not the strategy and we can all move on from it.
I don’t buy that at all. Someone’s lying. Evidence shows the same ‘tactic’ being implemented in multiple games, ending with the same result. Either Hiller ordered it, or the team decided to play like that despite what Hiller coached them to do, which means that he lost the room and the players were ignoring him.

Whichever is true doesn’t matter. Either option means that Hiller was ineffective and should be replaced.

Guess I missed this the first go around. If this was debunked, then yes tell me what I witnessed from Game #1 on (maybe not so much in Game #2). Also they have been playing like this for years before Hiller. This was the first time (at least in my bad memory) that we employed the only roll 3 lines and 2 D pairs when we had a perfectly healthy and productive 4th and 3rd D pair available.

Blake gone now lets rid of Hiller too...... :woot:

Tick-tock....Hiller!!!!
10:15
Saturday night
And the tap drips under the strip light
And I'm sitting in the kitchen sink
And the tap drips
Drip, drip, drip, drip
Drip, drip, drip, drip
Drip, drip, drip, drip
Drip, drip, drip, drip
Drip, drip, drip, drip
Drip, drip, drip, drip
Drip, drip, drip, drip
Waiting for the telephone to ring
And I'm wondering where she's been
And I'm crying for yesterday
And the tap drips

What you witnessed is a team that was stopped trying to win and instead was afraid to lose.
The Kings have that 3-0 blown lead from a couple years ago between their ears and they can’t let it go. That’s what you saw beginning in Game 1 and throughout the series.
Problem is the Oilers know it.

Interesting part at 9:00 he gets asked about the stupid challenge in Game 3. He won’t answer what caused them to request the review but he says something about the play prior to the puck going into the net. Something about the puck going around the net. I’m so confused.
