Sad. That’s a good contract for him. Probably could have gotten a little more in free agency, but good on him for sticking with his team.

Stamkos might be the best forward UFA available on 7/1. Looks like Guentzel and Reinhart are close to signing extensions, but you never know. Lindholm, might be a better fit though as he is only 29.

I would not trade a decent D-man for Marner. I believe Marner is soft and giving up a D-man for him is very risky.

Toffoli is a known commodity and I have no problem with him.
Perron is 36 and I just don’t know what’s left in the tank. But he’s a better player than I once gave him credit for. I do have concerns about any player who has played for team after team after team. Generally not a good sign.

For what it's worth, I show us as having about $18.3 million in cap space, with Byfield and Spence still to re-sign. That's assuming Englund in the 7th dman, not Burroughs or Moverare, and Turcotte, Thomas, Clarke and one of Lee or Fagemo making the roster. That's 17 players signed so far.
