Guess what’s 3 weeks way?

He needs to go at the deadline before he starts wallowing into Kaliyev part feud!
I assumed your interest in trading Turcotte was to cut the injury risk, which makes sense. This take does not. Hiller already said, and Turc has demonstrated, he’s too talented for the fourth line. Kaliyev couldn’t play his way off of it.

Turc still doesn’t belong on the top line, granted. He belongs where Moore is. Trade Moore in the offseason and get that first liner through free agency ideally. Boeser belongs here. I’d let Gavrikov walk for Marner, though not sure the math is there either. Laf and Spence are getting raises.

Moore and a 2nd for Tuch for sure, although why would Buffalo do that???

But it’s a huge HELL NO regarding giving away Turc and a 1st for a declining 34 year old Marchessault that makes 5.5 millions until the end of the 28/29 season…
Not that it matters but he also has a NMC.

I'm hoping a dedicated offseason in the gym will help Turcotte become more solid on the boards and not as easy to bang around. Been rooting for him since the draft.

While I would love to get Rakell , the name that's making the rounds from Pittsburgh to the Kings is Bryan Rust. Either would most likely require a high draft pick as well as a prospect to get the Penguins to retain enough salary to make it work for us.

Rust is a good player who has played roughly a full season twice out of 10 seasons. On top of that he is undersized and signed through 27/28 (making him hit UFA status at 36) at a cap hit of $5.125m.

On the positive, he is a shooter averaging a 12.9 shooting percentage over his career which is solid.

If he was younger and had a history of staying healthy then maybe, but there are better options out there for the Kings. As is, Pitts would likely need to retain part of his salary.

No, I generally want to trade because 1) He’s an asset with value and 2) He’s too small to be successful in the playoffs.

Too small

Okay those reasons make more sense to me.
I think with time Turcotte can become a responsible third line center who can really up his assists. Size will come elsewhere. Dean said you can have a cancer or two if the room is solid. You can have a small player or two if the team is big. It’s trending that way.

I don't make a move until after the season. You're going to overpay and then might not make the playoffs. Be smart and be patient. This summer, make the moves needed to go past the first round.

Everything is an overpay at this point as I don't think they can afford to add enough right now to make them a cup contender. Maybe enough to get out of the first round? Wait until the offseason and the increase in salary cap and go after a big UFA or two.

If they trade Laffy, that would be a big blow to the Kings. Kids got heart and passion, some don't.
I think the main thing to consider here, that a lot of people lose sight of, is to ask if it is really an overpay? Or is it more like a fast-forward, or shifting of timelines? Not just specially referring to Laff here, as this applies to any prospects.

To clarify, the kings are ready to battle deep into the playoffs now, but a team like Buffalo is not. So you take a winger from them who ‘already is’, and ship them a winger who ‘could or will be’, plus a ripening agent(in the form of a draft pick). This is the true key to putting together a contender, in the humble opinion of this armchair GM. Timelimes, and making sure the majority of your pieces are ready to compete at the same time. You cannot have many, if any passengers at all, on a Stanley cup contender. Laff could definitely be great, but I rarely hear anybody bemoan the trading of Wayne Simmonds or Brayden Schenn..
