Hiller Hotseat Thread

Well, after I've found out the Kings lost again to the Pens, yeah, Hiller is really on the hot seat now. Glad I watched the Dodgers game earlier and didn't tune in to tonight's Kings game.

Maybe DeBoer should take Hiller's place.

If this start is a sign of things to come in the next month, I'm in. I mean, what else can Ken do anyways?

Who to hire?

(A few of them are off the board already).

Hakstol, Laviolette, Woodcroft, DeBoer (perennial loser who got very close - kinda like Sutter! Wink wink)...?
Obviously Lappy would be the Kings choice.

Ah, another "new blood" signing. What makes us think he'd be more successful than Hiller?

I mean, he sonds great for a team that wants to build anew around young players, but as a "wake up mo*ons" kind of coach to inspire veterans and try to make a deep Cup run? I'm not saying it's impossible, but no way Holland risks it with that kind of move, and rightfully so.

I had no hopes this year and didn't really wanna watch and.. am not watching because it's a pain in the ass but 1-4 seems about right. No upgrades, sh*t coach, aging team. I personally cannot wait until they do the black hole rebuild and I have a team I look forward to watching again (or know is going somewhere eventually) because this team... ain't it. We're 99% going to the playoffs to get our hands assed to us yet again because that's all we're built for (and playoffs are in question as well - missing them I think would be the best thing they can do).

Luc and company need to go but Hiller can please exit first. And this isn't reactionary like oh we suck we're 1-4... to me it's a team culture thing. Also Hiller is probably the only coach ever that I avoid listening to his pressers because I don't care what he has to say.

Given his track record, he'll go with that last guy that coached under him in Edmonton. Woodcroft sucks, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's the next guy.

I think the Quacks would have something to say about that.
He could be their coach in waiting depending upon how long Q wants to keep coaching. At one point Q had an outside shot at catching Bowman but now it seems like his most likely outcome is second coach in history with 1000+ wins.

Seat is not warming up yet but if they haven’t turned things around by Nov 1 it’s going to get hot pretty quick.

I can see this, it is early. However, the leash was already short for Hiller coming into this season. However, the Kings have 7 games left to play this month and if the Kings do not right the ship over the next few games I can see a change being made before 11/1.

Also, I am sure that Holland already has someone in mind.

So, you want Sutter back, or a Sutter type?

I don’t see a coaching change happening at least yet, as you noted.
Clearly the kings look bad, out of sync, fighting it. It does happen at times at beginning of season. It should pass.
But, if this team looks this way after 20-25 games then of course a change is very, very likely.
One thing to keep in mind is that the past couple years the kings peaked early. I’d probably want them to find their game later as opposed to mid-season.

My guess is that the Kings are pretty locked in on Hiller completing the season as HC unless the wheels completely fall off. Even still, the Organization may not want a repeat of paying a HC to take an extended vacation while actively employing another.

Why they signed Hiller to a 3 year deal is still beyond me.
