Hiller Hotseat Thread

Kings didn't really upgrade at any position this year. Aging Kopitar and Doughty. Kuemper will be hard pressed to perform like last year. Kinda figured it'd be a down year. Young players need to step up and they really haven't yet.

Foegele and Edmundson also had career years. Danault had a terrible regular season and he’s off to another poor start this year.
 
For the record, I do expect a significant trade will be made before any consideration of firing Hiller. Holland has no allegiance to these players. His only allegiance is to the guy signing his paycheck.

Ok, on, or off the record.... what type of trade do you see happening?

Upgrade up front? Seems like Kuz was riding pine again last night.

A move just to make a move and shake things up as much as anything?

You very well may be right, as I am thinking that finding a new coach that fits this team would be a bit of a challenge right now.
 
He looks absolutely lost behind the bench.
No emotion…. nothing.
He was a cheap hire and a big mistake.

Carolina at home then STL + DAL + NASH + CHI (who are improved and we always lose there...) on the road.

How many points are we taking out of those 10?

I say 2 max. Kings are in trouble.

Bingo. The Foegele and Edmundson regressions were to be expected. And the development of QB + Clarke + Laf is non existent...that's a huge regression. Not even considering Kopi is probably out for a month.

Since Holland inherited him I expect a change will be made after the 12th game.
Who would be brought in? I would not be surprised if Peter Laviolette is brought in

Parts of it, yes. But as Sutter did the last time, he could change those pieces out for parts in the minors that would fit, and there would have to be a trade or three.

Except for the fact there was potential NHL talent on the Monarchs. The cupboard is bare in Ontario.
 
I don’t like a lot of the obvious options, really at all. DeBoer has always been a jerk, really has the personality of a wet gym sock, but has a lot of deep runs under his watch. Laviolette coaches one way and loses teams quickly, though it appears his short shelf life is effective for a season or two. Woodcroft feels like a low rent McClellan and Holland hired him but he also fired him. But he respects talent and appeared to line matches well and adjust to the game in front of him.

Hiller humiliated the team last spring and is doubling down on his own arrogance and insistence on shortening the bench. I’ll take any of those three gladly at the moment.

If and that’s a very big if, Hiller were to get the boot the obvious replacement is Dave Tippett. Tippett was hired by Holland to coach the Oilers from 2019-22.
