Hiller Hotseat Thread

He definitely mouthed it. I just wonder if he was talking about the refs initial call.
Long shot re the refs. Only if Foegs thought Embellishment should have been called would it have been directed toward the zebras. Most likely cause would have been about the lack of a challenge.

It's a little early to panic. The only team they've played outside the top 8 (league wide) is Minnesota and they haven't yet played a team in the bottom half of the league. Moreover, half of our games have been against the top 3 in the league. Now, if they continue to give up 5 on 3 power plays...
Not panicking. Just going off of Elliotte Friedman's November 1st theory. Something to the effect of, if a team is 4+ points out of a playoff spot on 11/1, they have a slim chance of making the playoffs. The Kings are currently 3 points back and playing .500 hockey is not going to help them. Also, another problem is the fact that there are a number of other teams (that are out of the playoffs), but ahead of them. I think the Oilers were in that position a few years back, but they went on a few long winning streaks to dig out of that hole. I do not see the Kings being able to do that.

It is basically an early test/view of the Thanksgiving milestone.

Just an observation.

Hard to say for sure, but I recall the next time they showed him on the bench he was turned looking up and listening to whomever had his hands on his shoulders. He was not smiling at the time.

I missed the NSH shootout/OT but clearly that decision making is worthy of bumping this thread up again.

Not playing Fiala in extra rounds sends a message alright, but not just to Fiala. The players would also like the best chance to win and aren’t exactly invested in Hiller’s power trip.

By the way, Clarke was supposed to have an elevated role, Holland. How does it feel watching him get the least ice time of every defenseman each night?

I just knew he wasn't the guy after the blunder challenge against Edmonton and he didn't acknowledge fault. Hopefully he is gone soon

That is, IMHO, the biggest problem by far.

Maybe he's learned from it, but publicly not acknowledging your own mistake (with as significant impact as that one) is just cowardice and/or ignorant and then one wonders if he can ever be a leader of a true winning team when leading with such example...

I can live with a costly mistake, but I don't have much patience with people in position of some kind of power not admitting they were in the wrong.

In my line of work, I highly respect the types that can admit a mistake, even small and trivial ones that wouldn’t even have been discovered. It’s indicative of their character.

His reluctance to acknowledge his part on some of these decisions (challenging, shortening the bench, etc.) are, to me, shining a light on some insecurity. Maybe that’s due to his lack of experience as the bench boss.
