It also postpones required change. We really need to see this team go on a 5+ regulation loss skid, losing each game by 2+ goals and scoring 1 or 0 gpg. That might get some attention from mgmt.
 
Amazing we are less than 2 years removed from T Mac getting canned and now on the verge of another coaching change.

Personally. I would have bet the farm Holland would bring in his own guy from the start.

Kopitar’s 20th season and will be his 8th different coach: Crawford, Terry Murray, Darryl, Stevens, Willie, T Mac, Hiller, and now ?? Almost a coach every other year.

It’s a pretty crappy legacy. Quitting on 4 coaches (soon to be 5) takes a bit of luster off the Cup wins.

The rosters post 2014 were all built to lose. Not a one of deserved to make the 2nd round of the playoffs. Last year’s team was by far the best of the bunch and even they were critically flawed on the backend.

What we’re seeing now is a delayed extension of the team who quit on T Mac. It’s poor construction by the front office and a general loser stink deep rooted in the franchise.

I went down that road about how many coaches Kopitar has watched come and go many times, but then I researched coach tenure and came across the following:

"Being an NHL head coach is rarely a long-term endeavor, with an average tenure of 2.3 years, a figure barely half the comparable marks in the other major U.S.-based men’s pro sports leagues."

Appears that it's endemic to the league and not necessarily a Kings thing.

True, but when a new GM hire keeps a questionable at best coach, you know he was told to keep him.

Hiller's contract runs through the 2026-27 season, with potential triggers for a fourth year. (dunno if they are ownership options or merit options). You know Danny B did not want to pay for two coaches contracts.

Danny B is a bean counter, not a guy who necessarily wants to win.
Luc does what he is told as he is a company man.

When Holland was hired into this mess it was part of the deal to keep Hiller.
Holland was cool with it as it gives him a throw-away year to not be blamed for the teams performance, and he can throw Hiller under the bus, and save his own skin.

My bigger take is that Danny B most definitely does not want a rebuild.
It's how he has operated the team since Timmy left.
Rebuilds have fans heading to the exits. He wants to keep dangling the carrot in front of the fans to take their money.

Kings fans for some reason are gluttons for punishment.
When the fans learn of the power they have and start to vote with their wallets.........
 
I'm beginning to think Hiller has morphed into a spiritual successor of Terry Murray in terms of coaching philosophy, perhaps even worse than him. The way he's been steering this team has made me tune out of watching Kings games lately. Never have I seen a coach who's this mule-headed and regressive until he came along. I mean, T.Murray and TMac both were stubborn in their coaching styles too but at least they don't undervalue the use of all 4 lines when coaching the Kings and don't use extra forwards in the PP. But Hiller really has found ways to suck the life out of this team by overutilizing veteran players in a way that not even TMac would be that crazy to pull off and made Kings games even more robotic and unbearably predictable to watch that it's not funny. Like many of us here, we're all eagerly anticipating Hiller's removal as coach, but unfortunately, that's up to Holland and we won't know when will he pull the trigger on Hiller.

And the bolded part is so, so true...

Maybe start a petition among the fans, especially STHs? "Unless this s*it is sorted we will not be buying season tickets (or regular tickets for that matter), beer, food at Crypto, or any merch, and we will also PIRATE THE S*IT OUT OF YOUR S*ITTY BROADCAST OPTIONS!!!11one".

How anyone would at this point willingly buy a full price ticket, and then even bizarrely expensive food&beverage at the game, is beyond me.
