Hiller Hotseat Thread

Right or wrong the Kings think they're close, so you dont fo with a rookie or cheap coach.
Fair point and perfectly phrased. Not officially challenging the statement but, in a less rigid view, can you see where I am coming from? What people are asking for in a system change and the people they are projecting to make those changes...don't mesh (in my head). My Tim Gleason pick was a goof and I was just giving Bullocks a bad time (with a CLARKSOOOONNNN) gif for emphasis .

But what I am open to is the essence of the joke, someone new, young (for a coach) and has seen how to build a team/inspire the current roster. Now one can make an argument that Rod's pushups and Justin Williams leadership did all the heavy lifting in 2018 but, I'd like to think it was a bit more.

If your going to move on from Hiller, which I highly doubt after the 6-0 & 4-2 wins, that just gave him at least a 2 week cushion of mediocre hockey with several losses thrown, but if they did you go with a HC with a winning pedigree on multiple teams at that's either DeBoer or Laviolette. Right or wrong the Kings think they're close, so you dont fo with a rookie or cheap coach.
Not to reply just to your post but all of those who are on the replace Hiller bandwagon, but both DeBoer & Laviolette have been fired multiple times because they didn’t coach that well. Yea, they now have supposed experience that Hiller doesn’t have. But anyone who replaces Hiller will have resumes that include failures.
My point with Hiller is I would like to find out if he can coach before we hire someone who has shown they can’t.

I do remember Sutter of course. But he was an anomaly in all honesty. What Sutter did here doesn’t happen often.

Yes they've been fired and yes they have a short shelf life, but they win and more importantly in the playoffs. That's what the Kings need now with there short window while Holland and Luc have stated and that fits DeBoer perfectly.
Are they going to win the cup this year with DeBoer most likely not, but he'll most likely get them a round or two. Then next year with the right upgrades who knows, but that's next year

Not sure if DeBoer learned from his mistakes. Remember 2012? He cost his team any chance of a comeback in game 6 when he went ape sh*t over Stoll's lovetap on a devil. He couldn't let it go and his team lost focus.

2 finals trip, i believe 8 times to the conference finals I'd take that 10 out of 10 times, he's a top coach in the league, I would even say top 3 or 4.

It happened in a similar fashion in St. Louis when they won the Cup with Berube. But I agree that a coaching change doesn’t often produce that ultimate result.

I believe Hiller has already shown us who he is, and that he has a lot of growing to do as a coach to overcome some difficult obstacles in his behind-the-bench personality.

I believe Hiller will again be on the Hot Seat after tonight. I did something stupid this morning by breaking my rule of not wearing a Kings hat on a game day. My hair was not playing nice this morning so instead of embarrassing myself in front of my neighbors, I covered my lettuce with my Kings hat. So LGK this game is on me. Let me have it!

We shouldn't be looking at old has-beens with Cups a la Babcock. Recent winners that are relatively young are AFAIK not available.

We should therefore look for those that came close, prefereably more than once. Those kind of coaches clearly have capabilies and also have something to prove yet, and can't rely on past success just to "keep busy" or "have some fun", because they want money, are workaholics, or simply want attention.

Hiller is so far very unproven. Makes no sense to replace him with another unproven coach. Doesn't matter if someone is mentored by Brind'Amour. He didn't win the Cup yet, either. Hiller was mentored by the likes od Babcock and Trotz. By that logic he's a safer bet for success, no?

Not all coaches are fit to be head coaches...as it seems so far that's likely the case with Hiller.

Awe, come on...you can't take me that seriously big guy. You make a lot of sense and Ken being an outside the box thinker or hiring a non-proven coach is spot on. But, posting like he might, is fun.

I am just hoping they've made decision already and didn't want to do it on the road with all the mother there to.
If your think your legit, they why wouldn't you also go all in on a coach who's won rounds, made finals multiple times.
What Joel Quenville has done with the Ducks cannot be understated, that's what a great coach can do!

I didn't know Mike Tyson coached hockey. But maybe he can just show video of his old fights and glare at the players menacingly.

Right?!! Well, funny story, before the face tattoo and the Hangover movie, he led the New Jersey Rangers to the Stanley cup to lose Pavel Bure's (Or is it Robert Gullet?) team the Vancouver Nordiques. Where the Canadians famously chanted "1942" throughout the series. They were swept.

Aside: I've been thinking about Mike's vigorous gum chewing; it wasn't stress, it was speed, right? He was coked out of his mind and didn't want to grind his teeth... NYC in the 90's??? Ha. How his heart did not explode I'll never know.
