Hiller Hotseat Thread

The coach blows but the GM is equally to blame. He traded a NHL caliber center for no roster player. He changed Gavrikov and Spence into Ceci and Dumoulin (i.e. bigger with less offense).
Hiller is coaching for his job. Do you really expect him to give minutes to a guy who should be in the AHL over overusing some veterans? It's a Sophie's choice.

.....and all those people who thought Blake was doing a great job all those years.
......and all those people who thought Luc had a "plan" for the organization all those years.

All of them.....apologists.

The Kings are where they are BECAUSE of Luc and Rob.
Holland is just the latest poor decision made by : ............Luc and Rob.

Luc and Rob's mismanagement of this organization is going to last for quite some time.
It's their legacy.

Since Danny B. did not clean out the entire front office at the end of last season, the mediocrity will continue.

Stop your hate watching.
Stop going to the games.
Stop spending your money on merch.

...then, things may change. AEG does not care about winning. They care about your $$$.

What better place than here, what better time than now?

100% agree.

And the in-arena experience now matches the on-ice product. David Courtney (amazing) to Dave Joseph (very good) to Trevor Rabone (bleh). Jay Flats to Mikey. Good giveaways (Cartman mega bobblehead, legends bobbleheads including a Jay Wells bobble fists) to mini bobbleheads and Hello Kitty paper crown with anything worthwhile requiring a ticket pack. $25 beers, no cheap food options with McDonalds gone, and so on. The Kings see the fanbase as suckers to extract as much money as possible. AEG are trying to make the playoffs, not build a winner.

It's sad to say, but I really miss having McDonalds available at the Kings game. I mean the prices were complete ripoffs, but way less of a ripoff than what they have now.

As to the giveaways, they are the cheapest things the Organization can handout while still meeting their sponsorship requirements. Truly pathetic. As you said, it's all just a money grab.

I haven't been to a game at crypto for 3 years now. It's just not worth making the 50-mile drive into town. The on-ice product is average. The food is too expensive and the variety is poor. The "in-arena experience" is annoying and excessively loud. Why do they believe they need to fill every second of breaks in the action with invasive audio content programming or overly enthusiastic MCs pimping promotions and gimmick crowd participation stunts at jet takeoff sound levels??? Dieter on the keyboard was just fine.

And I am a live audio engineer... crypto's audio makes me ashamed.

I haven’t bought food or drinks at the arena in a long time. If I’m going to spend big money I might as well do it at a real restaurant before the game. And then I pick something up afterwards. Also I try to find street parking instead of a paid lot. Better still is to take the train in & not pay parking at all.

This is a great way to go, if you can. I used to follow a similar format but then I got married and everything changed haha :)

Spot on about the "experience". It's the MAIN reason I don't bother going to game anymore. You can't even talk to your neighbor about the game between play. Just give me the organ player and John Ramsey as PA announcer and I'm happy.

I moved 3k miles away from Crypto solely to protest! Before it was Crypto and before Luc was at the helm! Over years and different moves in between. Very confusing ordeal!
(I know I repeat this joke often)

The formula just isn't working. I get holding onto Kopi and Drew all these years. Those 2 are Kings for life - but, all those wasted draft years ... there has not been 1 single draftee to play in the NHL since 2021. Clarke and Helenius were the last 2 draftees to play NHL games. The Cup years were a mix of home grown talent mixed with good trades. But, the bulk of the talent was home grown. I really don't see what the plan is with the drafting these past 5 years. To me it seems like they want to buy talent when it comes available but can't. So, we have this average product to watch night in and night out.

How many home growns did the Panthers have? I actually don't know, but I suspect that there were not many of them...

I get what you're saying, but it's clear that there's no interest in upper management/ownership to start from scratch properly (5-10 years of bad hockey, depending on capability to draft, develop, wheel'n'deal and a whole lot of LUCK) as long as they are making the playoffs. Or rather...as long as fans keep spending money on the team! It's that simple.

What happened with "vote with you dollar"? Oh wait...in 95+% of cases it doesn't work. Because you need customer unity/consensus AND if you happen to spark changes you need a lot of luck for the to go "your" way.

~3 highly essential core pieces. They were fortunate, however, to pull in other key pieces either early in their careers, through waiver wire reclamation projects, or by winning big (essentially unicorns) in the trade market.

That said, it is safe to say a main factor in Florida's success has been development, even if the talent was not always initially home grown.

Reality is that most teams who go on multi-year Stanely Cup runs hit the jackpot, on average, twice in the draft to set them up for that success and then get fortunate in free agency while drafting additional
strong role players.

Examples: Detroit, (Yzerman/Federov, Datsyuk/Zetterberg), Chicago (Toews/Kane), PItts (Lemieux/Jagr, Crosby/Malkin), Colorado (Sakic/*Forsberg, MacKinnon/Makar), Kings (Kopitar/Quick), etc.
