Hiller Hotseat Thread

It's a sellers market this year, and if Danault netted us a (then) high 2nd...Kuz is recently in quite good form and Perry is a known commodity many teams would like to have.

The Kings would have to a million or two, maybe add a 5th rounder in case of Kuz, but IMO it's doable.
I could see Perry netting a late 1st and Kuz netting a mid-late 2nd, but personally I think the Kings should retain and extend Kuz. Perry should be given a chance with a contender to break the Finals curse.

The Kings have too many wingers if we include the young guys knocking on the doors. If they retain Kuz instead of giving a chance to one of the younger players we will likely see another scenario of someone getting picked on waivers and making a career elsewhere.

I'm not sold on the theory. Sure we have a winger, potentially two, ready to come up and stay up (Lee and Ward) but beyond that there isn't a whole lot going on in Ontario which would be an upgrade from Kuz (or even equivalent). Greentree is really the only other potential right now, and Ward is, in all honesty, still borderline. Additionally, I like Malott but I'm not sure he really should be considered a full-time NHL player.

Then we know Perry and Kopi will be gone next season, creating two spots.

Really why would we move one of our players who is strong on the PP (which our team is weak on), plays a solid two-way game, and has offensive zone talent? I was all for not resigning Kuz last season, but he has changed my mind this season. He works hard, demonstrates a high hockey IQ and appears to have fully bought into Hiller's mind-numbing system.

I'd rather see Moore or even Foegele moved if space is needed. I would rank Moore higher than Kuz, but he also has a lot more trade value. Foegele seems like a player built for the playoffs, and while we need players like him his offensive struggles this team really hurts on a team like the Kings who struggle to score goals.

I'm all in for bringing up some forwards from Ontario. Let them learn how to play in the NHL. Sure there will be some long seasons for the Kings, however, these players will learn how to also win. Get what you can for Kuz, Fogele, Moore and whomever. The Kings need to look 5 years ahead.

It's about maximizing assets. Moving Perry and Kuz if the Kings start a downward trend towards the deadline and replacing one or both from within makes trading for a replacement for Kopi or an upgrade at the back end easier to swallow.

Kuz being good right now is exactly why you do it. He's good and has therefore quite high trade value in a sellers market, but he's not good enough to be a consistent difference maker, especially in a grindstone system of Hiller.

Though this is all just my wishful thinking. It won't happen.

Yeah I can see it happening, just depends on what direction the Organization decides to move in.

I think regardless of Organizational direction, though, the Kings would be silly not to move Perry at the deadline for assets (even should the Kings make the playoffs).

All this talk about the Kings maximizing assets and trading players like Perry forget that we'll be clinging to the hope of a playoff spot and won't be trading away anyone. If Perry is going anywhere, it will be for free over the summer.

My fear is Holland will see the Kings only 4 pts out of 1st as a sign to beef up at the deadline. Trade young players and picks to "go for it", with no long term plan.

Trotz's downfall began with the Stamkos, Marchessault & Skjei signings. Looked good at the time, but didn't pan out.

Kopi is retiring as a King. Full stop.

Finally, a post I'm feeling! Nice. The handshake line from Brind'amour's team, dude doesn't miss a chance to do the right thing.

Lets make it even better and let Trotz replace both Hiller and Holland… 🤓
If we are just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks, Berube or bust. Once they blame him for however the Leafs fail in the playoffs--we pounce. Sutter 2.0 and the team "soft" adjective would be upgraded to "semi". Plus, the frankenstein scar is only helping his reputation (as a monster!).

Hiller on the Hot Seat, good lord any Organization with even half a brain. Would have burned him down by now.
They think cuz there in the think of things in Pacific makes them.legit, is ridiculous, those teams are just bad. This was a golden opportunity for La to have gotten a legt coach 2 months ago and make a trade for an Ld who can push the play and who knows where team is at today
