I was wrong, we’re not good at all! Please continue complaining…

We've been good against good teams, we've been bad against good teams, we've been good against bad teams, we've been bad against bad teams.

The team is incredibly inconsistent and in a rut that hopefully they can pull out of. There is enough talent.

That being said, do not be surprised if we are more of a wild card team by the end of the season with a hot Edmonton leapfrogging us.

I wouldn't be surprised if a coaching change is made if this ship isn't righted soon. They have too much invested in this season. T-Mac is in the 5th year of his contract. How many coaches make it to 5 years with 1 team without winning a playoff series? They likely disregarded the first two due to Covid. That being said, he would be in year 3 and even then coaches are on a short leash.

Only problem is who is out there? Quenneville? Boudreau? Gallant? Woodcroft? Unfortunately, it is not like 2011 where Dean had Sutter waiting in the wings to help save our bacon and lead us to the promised land.

I don't care what has to be done, but I want to see our boys start putting up some wins soon before this season slips away.

GO KINGS GO!!

I like Coach Todd, and I always have, but as you wrote, we have so much invested in this team...and quite frankly we could use a swift kick in the butt.

Of the available coaches, I'd go with Gallant.

I'm not necessarily prone to knee-jerk reactions, and all teams go through slumps, but I do think a change is in order at this point. And history has proven that mid-season coaching changes in the NHL have worked many times. Along with Sutter in 2012, take a look at Jon Cooper, Craig Berube, Mike Sullivan and Bruce Cassidy.

If the Kings suddenly turn this around and start winning again, I expect us to maintain the status quo. But if this losing streak continues, I expect to see some changes.

Had someone asked me how many games the Kings have lost after the Caps game, I would've said 3, but nah, it's 5. And my miscalculation is because I have been distracted and also because of self denial, haha. :crazymonkey:

Before the last 5 games, we were 20-7-4. Been very up and down in the last 5 games, but every team goes through spells like this. Even with the 5-game losing streak, we're 4-4-2 in our last ten and have gained 4 points on Vegas in that time period. All these losses were against teams with winning records. It's concerning, but I think we still have some time to fill out those organ donor cards.

it’s going to be a shame if this all falls apart. The scouts have clearly done an exceptional job, finding talent everywhere - and we gave a big chunk away for two duds - PLD and Fiala…. And yes, I know he has elite hands, but his errors occur almost as much as his positive plays. Starting to look at him as a net zero.
Fiala is fairly good at putting picks in the net... It's his inopportune penalties that tick me off... If he can only cure that second part...

I am making a bold, and probably erroneous, prediction: If the streak goes to 7 losses in a row, McLellan is gone.

Maybe I should remind the front office about 2004 and the 13 losses in a row...

Am I the only one who is positive about this team. This road trip they will go 5-1-1. This is just my expert opinion. I can’t carry the positivity all by myself. I need a little help. I’m about to go streaking through the quad, who‘s with me?

Hi.

I think the team is very unlikely to win tonight. I also think McLellan is very unlikely to be fired before the road trip concludes. Their points percentage is still higher than Vegas.

I also think Blake needs to really look at this, however, because teams can cut right through the Kings system right now. They get zero respect. Even a team like Detroit was getting right at the net over and over again. It’s embarrassing.

Kevin is working much harder. You can clearly see it. On both ends.

In my opinion, you don't give up on a guy like Fiala with world class skills. Yes, he is prone to mistakes, but he can also put the puck in the back of the net.
Worked his way back to even after sitting a cpl shifts. Time to sit PLD

When you are a so-called star player or one of kind player, you make others around you better. Does anyone see PLD making others better? Would you emulate his work ethic? Do you ever see him take over a game? Like I said earlier, he is what he is. You're not going to change him from being a passive player. He seems to play in spurts, maybe it's his conditioning? I'll say it again, he got worked by Hagel and with his skill level and body size, no way should Hagel have ever had the chance to take that shot from where he did. That's heart!

I'm ending the thread now; I took the day off from work to prepare for tonight's game against the Panthers. I need to be focused and ready to watch at the drop of the puck.

Problem is, if they sit PLD, that trade looks even worse. But, I agree.

Todd is catering to the player - if you sit Fiala he gets pissed and wants to go score a goal. I think if you sit PLD his attitude gets worse and you get even more of a dud. Sitting PLD would make him worse.
