I was wrong, we’re not good at all! Please continue complaining…

They look like they will be out of a playoff spot before they return home.
Only 3 points ahead of Edmonton so it's possible. I still think he's got a bit of a longer leash given we aren't even halfway through the season and Arvy will be back soon. We will see.

One thing to keep in mind is that most nights, we are not getting significantly outplayed or said another way, we are leading or in most games as some point. This team is still good but hitting a rough spot when it comes to closing things out. Every team goes through it, we aren't even 41 games in yet so there is plenty of time to right the ship. I've kinda written off the rest of the road trip, maybe we get 1 or 2 wins, but the homestand is critical to re-establish their play. Three games we should absolutely win vs Nashville, San Jose and Buffalo and likely a very tough game vs the Rangers.

While I appreciate your optimism, the Kings suck at home this year. Hell, they might even lose to the Sharks.

Todd is catering to the player - if you sit Fiala he gets pissed and wants to go score a goal. I think if you sit PLD his attitude gets worse and you get even more of a dud. Sitting PLD would make him worse.
And the wildcard is that we don't know what Blake said to him to get him to sign here. He may already be in pout mode now due to broken promises by playing him on the "3rd" line.

This quote from Dooley‘s column today shows how unsuccessful the team has been in OT with the 9-11-8 combo starting the period followed by equally questionable trio choices.

”There’s also the notion of overtime play, as the Kings carry a record of 2-8 in games that go past 60 minutes. That .200 winning percentage is the lowest in the NHL, with a 1-4 mark each in overtime and the shootout.”

Booooo!

Makes it even worse that coach McLellan keeps playing them over and over again. Everything they create 3 on 3 is solely on Kempe and his speed, a quality everyone except our coach can see is vital in OT…

In order to stop this losing, I am going to be attending more games. A buddy of mine called me yesterday and said he has 4 VIP tickets through his company with parking to every Kings game, actually every event at Crypto. He is sending me a list of all the remaining Kings games and told me to pick the ones, I want to attend.

I am doing my part, what is everyone else going to do? I can't carry this team on my back all by myself, I will need a little help. We know we can't count on Jammer and Nyssa tries her best; however, she has cost the Kings a few wins by bringing others to the game, that might not have the Kings best interest in mind. Just saying.

I wonder if it’s a lack of vision on Todd’s part, or simply the fear of alienating a future hall of famer by not starting him during the extra frame. Either way, that’s a bad look for a coach.

The worst part is the ".200 winning percentage"... how can a coach see that 2-8 record as the result of a good strategy. It flies in the face of intelligence. The man's stubborness is only exceeded by his lack of perception.

^^^This. It has been a long losting streak but we aren't getting blown out. We're not the Sharks or some other team which is non-competitive and gets their heads handed to them. The Kings are just making dumb plays and losing close games. They are also nervous as heck at the end of games. During the last game, only Doughty seemed to really want the puck on his stick during the final 5 minutes. Everyone else was handling it like it was a time bomb.
This bad luck will even out. The Kings still have an excellent goal differential because they are not a bad team. Just a good team in a bad patch.

I'd really, really like to see Byfield out there in OT. Kopi was so gassed last game. When we were going shorthanded, it looked like Danault would join the 2 D on the ice but no it was tired Kopi again.
Overtime is a speed/possession game. Kopi was good at possession but no longer quick. During the broadcast earlier in the week, Bally's showed how Byfield's top speed and speed bursts were top 5% in the NHL. You'd think that alone would get him at least a sniff of overtime play.
It is also a long, long season. I don't know why Todd isn't auditioning new guys to see what we have on the roster. instead he rolls out the old standbys in an effort not to lose the game (rather than trying to win).

Fiala is fairly good at putting picks in the net... It's his inopportune penalties that tick me off... If he can only cure that second part...
That and giveaways. I don't think he gives it away a lot, but he seems to have one crucial one every other game. Hands like I've never seen,. If he could just sort this stuff out.

Good teams learn to win these close games. Where did the road warriors go? Every team has a slump at some point but, this road trip was especially brutal for the Kings ...
This next home stand will tell if the Kings are in it, to win.
Kings, this season, have had 64 mins more PIM against. An improved powerplay could have turn some of those close games our way.

I will do everyone a favor and refrain from posting for one week to see if this will help turn around the Kings season. This is the least I can do, what will you do LGK?

It’s about time you got back to work. Taking all these days off has only made this thread worse. I am waiting for the day Emsomaso can change the title again.

I didn't watch the last 3 games and steered clear of the apparent twitter meltdown. It didn't help :fpalm:

This sounds a LOT like what the Edmonton Oilers were saying during their 2-9 skid a couple of months ago. It was the loss to San Jose that finally ended the Woodcroft era for them. I’m not sure if this team needs the same type of shake up because the issues are different. The players TM leaned on during the early part of the season (Kopitar, Doughty, Talbot) are running out of gas. This team may be built for playoff hockey, but they’ll be too burnt out by the time they get there. Questions around goaltending and how to help PLD be successful need to be addressed before this team can take that next step. IMO this season is already a wash
