I wouldn't be shocked. I was expecting him to be brought up at some point next season, but I think he'd be OK this season as well. The kid led the US team in the Olympics in TOI and was second in TOI of all the players in the Olympics. So it's not like he hasn't played against grown men, although of course not at the NHL level. Trading a couple of picks to move up to select this guy at No. 45 is looking like a genius move at the moment.
 
At the morning skate, Doughty is apparently paired with Edler, rather than Maatta, Wolanin or Moverare. So perhaps Drew isn't ready to return. No mention of Roy or Bjornfot being on the ice.
 
Per McLellan, Wolanin is in, and Bjornfot is out (day to day). No other line-up changes. This means that our entire opening night defensive corps is out tonight. Don't recall this ever happening to any team.

Hopefully Bjornfot's day to day doesn't turn into IR like it did with Pepe and Doughty.

That just means he isn't playing vs SJ. He can come back as early as the Vegas game on Saturday.

Second fun fact: In reddit's rant section (r/rant) every couple of years these songs trigger one, hey stepdad's can have opinions, ALL CAPS opinions. Third thingy: pretty sure if there is a hell, mine will have Kidz Bop songs as the background music.

This is not Kidz Bop, this is a guy whose channel is called "There I Ruined It." He does a lot of stuff like this. Oktoberfest edition of Straight Outta Compton, anyone?

Per Hoven, defenseman on the ice today are Edler, Doughty, Maatta, Spence, Strand, Durzi, Moverare. Says Doughty not expected to play, so Edler apparently in?

That would be cool - all indications had pointed to an EOM return but the sooner the better!

He had "full participation" in practice yesterday, so hopefully yes. Wolanin got sent back down, although it could just be a paper transaction.
