It’s deadline season!

I am good with what the Kings have. Just play out the regular season.

I'm not. If there's an opportunity to sell some players for good return (at least Perry and Foegele), Ken should do it. Lee or Ward are ready to step in.

Equally, if the price is right to acquire Pettersson or Thomas, Ken should do it, too.

I'm good with trading players for picks. I'm not sold on Pettersson, seems like a player that needs to be coddled

If the price for Robert Thomas is too high (which it probably will be), Elias is likely the only opportunity to acquire a #1C for the foreseeable future. With the cap rising significantly there will be less and less opportunities like that. Kopitar is retiring at the end of this season, and apparently QB is back on the wing in training. Who's going to be the #1C? Laf? Turcotte? Overpaid UFAs in the mold of Nick Schmaltz, Coyle, Jenner...? #2 center that plays well for his standards and will be likely as expensive as Elias (Zacha, Trocheck...)?

I'm not super comfortable with potential pitfalls with Elias, but considering this team is supposed to win-now I fear that passing up an opportunity like this will lead to massive overpayment down the line (and potentially with not insignificant risks after all).

If there's any destination that could suit Elias it's LA...less pressure, former (and current international) teammates in Kuz&Kempe with proven chemistry...his situation in VAN soured over the years, and he definitely shares the blame, but I'm sure it's not 100% on him. It usually isn't.

The main issue I see is Hiller managing to round-peg-into-square-hole both Panarin and Elias, thus making them considerably less effective offensively than their pedigree suggests...and eventually disgruntled.

This is my worry too. Why bring in this scoring talent and play this restrictive system he's got. If the Kings get a bonafide 1C, load up that 1st line and tell them have at it. Then QB can stick to his 200ft game at 2C with wingers who do the same.

Not that Im advocating for it, but er the Hiller hotseat, Boudreau. He would def open up the "O"

I have no problem with selling at the deadline if it looks like we look like we are not going to the dance.
However with Fiala's injury it will take him a season or 2 to resume his elite ability.
Until we have a replacement on LW , Foegle should not be traded.
Guys that are expiring anyway like Perry, sure fire away.
Lee is ready to step in but on line 4 or higher up if Foegle is injured. He is not getting much of a return right now.
All players with term need a look by our new coach next season.
The piece that gets a big return is Kuemper.
He is up there in the GT age category and Forsberg and Portillo should be the 2.
I don't mind winning trades like Panarin but otherwise don't trade away QB, Laff or Clarke, Kempe. Or any picks or top prospects.

The Kings have plenty of players that can play LW. Panarin is naturally a LW. So is Kuzmenko. And apparently QB is now, again, also a LW...and Foegele is demoted to 4th line duties. That should rack up his trade value!

It's true that the Kings would sell low on Foegele, but this logjam makes it very hard for him to prove he's worth keeping anyways...and I'm not sure he's better suited for the 4th line than Lee or Ward...or even Malott.

PS: is it just me or does this read like it was said by someone just finishing reading hockey 101 book and having a first glance at the Kings roster?

"I know what he likes......he likes a left-hand shot playing his off-side, he makes a lot of cross-ice passes, I understood that. The conversation was an easy one. Then, I looked at what teammates probably fit him best and as it turns out, Kempe is an off-handed shooter that plays on his off side. Seems to be, at least, pretty natural and we'll see how the chemistry goes."
