Sounds like another PLD situation to me. I can't stomach having him in our roster if he's going to end up being PLD 2.0. So no thanks.
 
If he manages to land a center prior to deadline - and I’m skeptical that happens now vs. the summer - that will still be a move towards next season moreso than this one. In fact it makes much more sense to wait til the summer anyway - the Kings’ first should be a top 10 pick!

IMO MTL wants to get rid of him in order to get cap space to make a push this year.

MTL needs to add something of significant value in order for the Kings to send them back a serviceable and affordable player (Foegele, maybe Moore). They have decent prospets. Reinbacher...heck, if the Kings spice it up enough maybe even Hage.

This would be a prime example of weaponizing cap space...the Kings are now in a position to do so.
 
As most on LGK knows, I did not agree with the trade for Panarin, I didn't believe the Kings needed another aging player that wasn't doing anything spectacular for the Rangers in the East this season. The Kings made that trade before two very important must win division games on the schedule.

Instead of getting on a plane and heading west for about 3 or 4 days, Panarin says I'll see you after the olympic break. Panarin hadn't played in a while for the Rangers and he just couldn't fly west to join his new team in LA, and play back to back divisional games against two teams that were ahead of the Kings in the standings. He would be back home in 4 days with two weeks off. He's a veteran, he needed one game day skate with the Kings to figure things out. The Kings needed to win these games. He had time off coming up and at that time the Kings were in a playoff race. How quickly things change.
 
Trading the Kings first round pick should:
A) Not happen since it's currently 9th overall with the potential to go higher since we're going nowhere fast
B) Should happen and should get a great return on it's own since it's currently 9th overall with the potential to go higher since we suck and are going nowhere

There's a big difference now between a Kings first and an Avs first.

We should get assets back for taking Laine. I'm not against trading Byfield because I don't see him getting to his potential but he's a top trade chip. I'm only dealing QB in a package for a top player coming back.
Otherwise you keep him as a top 6 guy who won't live up to his draft slot (like a better Legwand).
 
Forget about more trades, I’m already worried we messed up letting Greentree go. The trade was great IF we aren’t blowing this whole thing up. And it seems like it’s time to blow this damn thing up.
