Well, we had Lizzy before and he was as small as Marchand. Yet he played like a true grinder for his size and somehow avoided major injuries for the most part despite not being as skilled as the Nose Face Killah is.

Nah, he took a few hits that put him on the shelf for “Upper Body” reasons after going to the quiet room.

Fun fact: armija (pronounced armia) in Yugoslavian slavic languages means army (well, it's almost the same). But the nickname Army has been taken already in the past, wasn't it? Does resurrecting/reusing nicknames work in hockey fandom rulebook?

Good profile on Armia on the new ATKM podcast. Jesse has a MTL reporter on and he reportedly was one of the most sought after players at the deadline. 80-90 hits and doesn’t go out of his way looking for contact, but is consistent in going to the net both ends of the ice.

I already liked this signing and the latter part is what I was aware of already, but still nice to hear it again.

Agreed. If it wasn't for Ceci, then Holland would have had a decent offseason. Armia is exactly what we needed on the 4th line and can absorb PK time to free up the stars to be fresh and score. His numbers last year were down but he was also playing hurt towards the end of the season; anyone who breaks their hand and misses 1 game so that he can be in the lineup for a playoff chase and the playoffs is a guy we want in the locker room.

I agree. Ceci is the anchor that’s getting Holland so much negative attention here. And I don’t blame them. A lot is riding on how protected he’ll be by forwards helping the D in this system. So yeah, they’ll need to be fresher all around.

While I’m not thrilled with Ceci I’m waiting until I see with my own eyes what it looks like to have him on this team. If he can keep players away from the crease and clear the puck out of the zone I will be somewhat satisfied. I don’t expect him to be anything he’s not. And I do know that while he was with Edmonton he was not surrounded with even decent defensemen. I am going to judge this move when I see him on THIS team.
