I think we're about to find out! One caveat, the Kings' last four games have been against bottom-feeders. To their credit, including Quick's. they've taken care of business, which is why they're in a good position in the standings now. Will Quick still be hot against (likely) the Oilers? If he is, look out NHL!

BTW, regarding baseball and a hot pitcher, Orel Hershiser in 1988 and Madison Bumgarner in 2014 (even Koufax in 1965) come to mind as examples of hot pitchers who carried their teams to championships. Still, much more rare than a hot goalie.

Good calls on Hershiser, Koufax and and Bumgarner. Even pitching every third game, they dominated.

I know one thing: Cal better get used to the view from the bench. Quick seems to have found a fountain of youth, and he's playing as well as I've seen him play in years. I'd cut off a vital part of my body to be that flexible. At 36 years of age, he's quite a specimen. And for someone like me who is about as flexible as a bowling ball, it's even more impressive. Every time he does one of the 180 degree split-saves, I reach for my groin.

I notice myself just staring in awe sometimes at him play.

Koufax dominated all season kids!!

Even though I got to see Sandy Koufax in person at Dodger Stadium, my favorite Koufax memory came from the Van Nuys Drive-in on the evening he threw his perfect game...

...mom and pops took me and my sis to see "The Great Race" in our brand new blue Buick Riviera. But ended up putting the speaker box back on its rack and listening to Vin Scully call the name on the car radio. But by far the best part was the fact we heard so many other cars had the game on too...and when Koufax completed the perfect game you could hear all the cheers from the other cars over the sound of the movie.

How cool is that?

Anybody here old enough to remember these?

I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT QUICK!!!

This guy has a few rad videos of Quickie. It is incredible to see how fast he really is from this perspective.

4:08, watch him read this play to break up the pass into the low slot,
6:27, holy crap, INSANE!

Awesome! Thanks for posting that! It really shows his athleticism and how quick he is! And his head is constantly moving.

Good stuff!

Great game by Quick,he gave up 3,but most goalies would have given up 6 against that offense. That was a very wide open game game.

JQ looked damn good last night. KINGS, KEEP YOUR FOOT ON THE GASSSS!!!!!

So far, Quick >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Smith.

Some things haven't changed in 10 years.

If it wasn't for couple of those ridiculous penalty calls he probably would have only allowed one goal instead of 3.

Preliminarily, JQ has given us all so much joy/relief that he could retire tomorrow and be rightly beloved by Kings fans forever.

That said, let?s not start ****ing each other?s ****s just yet.
He?s had a nice week to ten days at the right time after an un-confidence-inspiring season.
Last night was a stark reminder that he can let one in at ANY time - often THE single most deflating time - and that his puck-playing skills have not improved since 10 years ago.
Well done on earning the playoff job to start and we?ll see whether he threads the line between Hasek and just look-at-me sound and fury signifying nothing.

??-> As Sophia said on ?The Golden Girls,? ?Call me Kreskin.?

The only way we win another game is if Quick has another vintage Quick game, not the slop we've seen the last two games.
