Yep. Stuff like that loses you playoff games. And playoff series.

Not picking on you or Kurisu but come on guys. We've had plenty of instances where Quick would go behind the net and misplay a puck and it ends up in the Kings net. We all gave Quick a pass because he was a goalie god. But Copley has played well enough to earn a mulligan on his goof. If it becomes a habit, I'll be there to break out the pitchforks and torches. But I'm willing to ride his hot streak for now.

i hear what you're saying and of course I'd prefer to get some asset back for Durzi. My overall point was that I think in the playoffs, someone like Durzi is going to get exposed bad, and I see him as more of a negative than a positive. I may very well be in the minority on this.

I hope it is minority. I truly do not understand the Durzi hate on the board. He can add offense for both teams (to be kind) but he is a net positive for the Kings. And he held his own in last year's playoffs when Spence was exposed as being too small. Durzi could handle the big checking of guys like Kassian and he showed snarl in sticking up for his teammates.

He is definitely worth some assets at his age and salary for next year. It would be a big mistake to give him away for nothing. The Kings also need someone who can swing between left and right side like Martinez used to do. That said, he might become a potential trade chip in the summer along with guys like Iafallo. Blake will need to manage the cap next fall and has a number of renewals coming in summer 24 (although Durzi would still be RFA).

Agreed, Durzi is definitely an asset who should not be dealt without a solid return coming back. He seems like one of those guys who often gets overlooked in terms of how much he provides to the team. Yes he isn't the best in the defensive end, but the Kings have been able to come from behind numerous times this season and Durzi is one of those players who significantly helps that to happen. Additionally, he displayed crazy hearth last season in Doughty's absence, and especially during the playoffs against Edmonton. As you mentioned, he wasn't being pushed around out there and did a pretty good job of being an instigator.

Personally I hope we keep him, but he does need to be paired with a solid defensive defenseman.

Hot streak? He's been getting wins, and had a hot streak compared to the disaster that was the Kings' goaltending prior to him, but he's still below .900 in SV% at .899, which is good for 37th in the NHL. He's at 36th in GSAE, at 2.5. He's been competent, but no more than that. The team is scoring a lot, which covers for a lot of goaltending sins. Once the defense tightens up in the playoffs, every goaltending mistake will be magnified. And while the five hole dribbler was the most recent and most egregious, this mistake was only one of a number of them he has made recently. His play has notably declined. There's a reason why he's been a journeyman NHL/AHL goalie. I would not be very comfortable with him in net come playoff time.

TM will rotate both. It will be Korpisalo in against the Avs. they need to learn if Korpisalo can be the #1 and if he can, then determine how much to offer him in order to keep him.

Quick handling the puck was always dicey.

Playing for statistics and stats is different than playing for wins. At the end of the day he's 20-4-2. That's a lot more impressive to me than anyone with a higher save %. Winningest goalie in the league since he came in I believe? Yeah I'd play Copley no questions asked. Let them fight for #1 in the summer/next year. Seems a very dangerous time to be testing the waters and trying to decide on a goalie when you have a clear #1 already.

I'm thankful for Cop in saving our season but Korpi is our #1 he is gonna take us to the promise land. The guy has all the attributes of a champion not to mention as humble as they come.

Have to agree. Watching the two of them, Korpi seems miles ahead but I'm curious if he is streaky. One of the best things about Cop is his consistency which is pretty darn hard to find.

I'm not ready to annoint either of these guys as the #1 . Nor should anyone be ready to do so. These two goalies will COMPETE, and push each other for the starts, with the TEAM reaping the benefits of said compeition either way.

If one of them goes nuclear, then of course you let the hot hand ride, but if these guys are both winning, and limiting the opposition to 2 goals or less, then I say it will pay dividends to show faith and trust in them both. You don't want either one of them to feel like they've been written off by the coaching staff, or relegated to the 'backup' position. Instead, we want them both to have their eye on the prize.
