I suspect Holland was not crazy about paying Kempe 10M in the 35-38 years. I believe that was the teams concern. But I still like this deal and understand that Kempe has been seriously underpaid up til now.

Glad it’s settled. Zero concern about this contract moving forward. The cap is only going up and Kempe deserves every penny of this deal. Good work Holland and Luc.

I keep thinking that fans are not prepared for the contracts we are going to see with the cap increasing so much.

Juice got term. Kings got decent AAV especially in light of recent signings. A good deal for both I think. Now we will need a winger to play with him.

I’ve felt Juice has been playing slightly less physical to start this season, and I can fully appreciate that approach, given the fact that had he sustained a catastrophic injury, he would have likely cost himself this 85 mill in career earnings. Now that this has been settled, and he’s guaranteed this money, I expect we should see him return to his more aggressive style of play.

Anyway, YES!!! I’m very happy with this signing. It’s better than what I thought they’d have to pay. But it’s close to what I thought it would be going into it. Which makes me wonder why they didn’t just go with this from the start & avoid all the drama. But it’s all good now. He’s signed long term & we’re not rebuilding.

Is this confirmed? I really doub it. It makes very little sense. For kempe at least a 10-team exempted NMC should make sense and it's something Holland would kinda have to agree to, no?
If the contract really is without NMC/NTC then that is amazing. I really doubt it, though...and I think these contract clauses usually take a while to become public.

The Los Angeles Kings and forward Adrian Kempe have agreed to a eight-year, $85 million contract that carries a cap hit of $10.63 million per season.
