Kings Making "Major Announcement" Tomorrow Sept 18 at 3:30 p.m.

Announce McDavid to Kings.
I don’t care how this makes me sound, even if I’m just deluding myself, but I have opened my heart to thinking about McDavid signing here as a UFA next summer.

His 32 Thoughts interview is crystal clear he doesn’t care about how it looks right now. He said when/where he signs will be based on “a feeling.”

The best part though is that the hosts walk away as convinced as ever he’s staying. I can understand still thinking that, but to act like that interview was proof is laughable. The younger guy who is about as good a replacement for Jeff Marek as is a portabello mushroom for a tomahawk steak said he could see it in his eyes that he’s staying.

I just don't know if coming to the Kings is better than staying in Edmonton. If he leaves, it will be because Edmonton's roster sucks for winning a Cup. They have Skinner instead of a real goalie and the team is aging. So it is possible that he leaves. But The Athletic did their franchise Contention Cycle today and Kings and Canucks are in the "Time To Rebuild" category (they have Edmonton in the "Window Open" so take it with a grain of salt). But I'd see McDavid leaving for a team on the upswing like NJ or Montreal. I'm baffled the Oilers wouldn't roll the dice on Carter Hart to try and improve the goaltending. But if I'm 97, I prefer Drai and Bouchard to Byfield and Clarke.
