Confirmed with Link Kings name Holland their 10th GM in History

Another way to look at this Robertson situation.... The Dallas Stars are kind of in the same boat as the Kings. They cannot get past the Oilers either. If this rumor is true, they are looking to get rid of Robertson in order to improve their club. That makes me paus and think a bit.....

The oilers owned the Kings top line and top D pairing. How does Robertson help with that? The worse +/- in this past years playoffs all belong to the top line, top D pair and then QB.

I am not sure I would that I would trade the new Fiala straight up for Robertson. All things considered.

Very true about the contract. I would also question what Dallas would want in return? Futures/prospects, or a different top end piece(s).

Also, guy seems a little on the soft side, not the type of player that is going to move the needle much for the Kings in the playoffs, especially when considering the cost.
That’s my concern. He’s small. Marner is too but he’s a 200-ft player. You’re not just buying points at 13-14M with him.

That's a very good point. Which complicates things a bit. The Kings can offer a package that matches their value of a player like Robertson as he's not yet a proven playoff performer. But a team looking to get into the playoffs can value him much higher...

So, we could hope he'd find another gear for a hometown team, but there's just very little chance the Kings would be willing to match the offer of a team that's more desperate to simply get into the playoffs and that has an abundance of assets.

Not sure if you are serious here. What kind of trade package would the Kings need to put together to land him? Kings would be much better off just buying Mitch (not the monkey Mitch) IMO.
Unless the Stars particularly love someone on the Kings roster I highly doubt they trade him to a contender in the West. If they trade him in conference it’s more likely they’d trade him to Anaheim or San Jose.

As for what Dallas wants they’re up against the cap already so young/cheaper NHL talent is what they’d want. They need to replace Duchene and a winger to replace Robo. So maybe Laf, Turcotte and Greentree? I assume they can get a better package elsewhere so there probably isn’t a fit.

Robertson is already a proven playoff performer. He’s been one of their best playoff performers over the last 3 runs to the WCF. He struggled to score this playoffs but so did everyone not named Rantanen. Also he was recovering from a major injury.

Dallas has painted themselves into a corner with the huge contracts to Seguin, Hintz, Rantanen, Johnston and Heiskanen. Harley is due an extension next summer. At some point the roster gets too top heavy and Robo has only one year left on his current contract.

And call ME crazy but I'd prefer trading a lot of assets for Robertson and signing him long-term for 11py instead of signing Marner at 14+py...I feel Marner is a big, big trap...like a low hanging fruit that turns out to be posioned lol.
Its A Trap GIF

Robertson is an excellent player, but I would prefer to keep Laf, Turcotte and Greentree over acquiring him. Just like Dallas, the Kings need several inexpensive players on the roster and Laf is a keeper while Turcotte (who at the very least belongs in the NHL) and Greentree look promising but still need to prove themselves.

Robertson is actually 6’ 3” and 207 lbs. But he plays smaller. Robertson has a great shot but he is Kempe-light. Would rather see them acquire a right shot not named Marner to play with Kempe. Kings need the LD1 more than Marner.

In general I’d say the Kings are not a good trading partner for Dallas. I’d really like to see Holland get Laf locked into one of those Dustin Brown 6 year $20M extensions.

If Laf can find that next level of production where he’s a regular 25+ goal scorer at less than $4M a season the Kings would have a steal of a contract on their hands.

6’3” oh my goodness! I thought he was 5’10” - talk about misperception.

I have a hard time saying who I think they need more. Suffice it to say getting Marner alone without an LD1 would represent an incomplete summer for Holland.

Seems like the first order business before free agency or a trade for a forward would be to lock up an Ld1, not players we have that are penciled in ld1 or play those type of minutes

He plays like he’s 5’9”, 170. Laffy plays bigger than he does.

Ideally Holland trades Spence, Moore and a pick for Byram any day now…

But if it’s July 1 still have to go all in on Marner, regardless of LD1.
Yea or make massive trade for both Byram and JJ Peterka and still have money for another Piece on July 1st🤔

Los Angeles Kings

Ken Holland was one of the executives front and center at Panorama, including in a meeting with Brisson. It didn’t take much imagination to come up with what they were likely talking about, as Brisson represents Vladislav Gavrikov, who the Kings would like to lock up before he makes it to free agency on July 1.

The trouble is that Holland is not alone in loving the player. Gavrikov posted some of the best defensive numbers of anyone league-wide last season, is only 29 years old, and is coming off a season in which he averaged 23:05 of ice time per game, a career high. And there’s no one else like him available this free-agent season.

His asking price could top $8.5 million on a max-term deal, a considerable raise over the two-year, $5.875 million deal he is coming off. As one executive said during the week, “we’re all trying to find where the new normal is” with a rapidly rising salary cap, which will hit $113.5 million two seasons from now, a nearly 30 percent jump from 2024-25. Gavrikov could definitely be someone who sets a new bar for a defensive defenseman, given that paradigm shift.

What’s interesting is the Kings have enough cap room that they can pay that asking price and still go after Marner with a massive Draisaitl-like offer. Which is why we have them as a top candidate to land the soon-to-be ex-Leaf.

Everyone expects Holland to be super aggressive in his first year in L.A. There’s a reason he turned down the Islanders job to take this one: He’s chasing a Cup after being pushed out by the Oilers last summer.

No way in hell Holland should give Gavrikov $8.5M x 8 years.

All the rioting is really going to attract the available top UFAs with families to L.A. Most probably can’t wait to sign a big, LTC. 🤦🏼‍♂️
Well, since a large portion of the free agents we would love to have on this team are immigrants, they're probably on the protesters' side. So, not really sure if that's the stone you want to throw.
