Kings promotional schedule is out!

To me it looks like all the people who whined & complained about the different racial groups heritage nights have won. Because instead of Japanese, Mexican, or Korean heritage nights they have Hello Kitty, Dia De Muertos, & K-Town nights. I suppose Country night is in place of Caucasion night? And there’s no Jewish, Central American, Indian, or Native American themed nights, which they’ve had in the past. Also, no Pride night. Which in LA makes no sense. But is a victory for the complainers.

Als far as the stuff they actually give away, they are both less frequent & cheaper in quality. Anything you’d actually want to keep has to be purchased in a more expensive ticket pack. I don’t really like to complain about this stuff because the games are what’s important. But these are low quality even compared to what they’ve done in the past. I don’t know if anyone’s going to look at these & say I have to go to that night.

Edit - I just realized there’s also no Black history night. Which I mean holy crap. That’s shameful.
I don't think it has anything to do with the "complainers", it just has to do with being cheap a$$ bastards.

In 23/24 the Kings had 10th highest fan cost index in the NHL (which strives to calculate the cost of taking a family to a NHL game, including tickets, concessions and parking).

All-in that's not horrible, but when you look at the changes which took place last season (increased ticket prices, food/drink prices and smaller portions regarding food) I wouldn't be surprised if they jumped up a couple spots.

That said, they can't even find it in their deep pockets to offer viewing of games on one app (let alone a free app and public tv like the Ducks) or give away something as valuable as a $5 item to fans in attendance. Honestly you'd think they were a WNBA team losing money year over year.

The Kings announced the promo schedule this morning.

TLDR version = it sucks again. A far cry from 10+ years ago and behind what teams like the Hawks are doing (they announced their schedule yesterday with lots of bobbleheads and pins if you arrive early).

That's the LA market for you. This is a result of effort of the team ownership in the post Cup era - put a playoff team on the ice and you don't have to work hard to attract fans. Bottom line well exceeded.

Contrast that with how the Dodgers reward and entice 50K fans per game to buy the most expensive tickets in the MLB. It’s constant giveaways, relevant brand partnerships, special events like concerts, former player signings, tours of the stadium; etc ON TOP of having the most talented team in the sport with the biggest payroll.
When the Kings are contending for a cup EVERY year, attendance won't be a problem....don't kid yourself.

My point is attendance hasn’t been a problem (averaged <17K once since the sellout streak ended) just like it hasn’t been a problem for the Dodgers. Yet only one team rewards their fanbase with small gestures of appreciation.

Neither the Kings nor the Dodgers need giveaways to sell out the stadium. The Kings act like they don’t need us. The Dodgers act like they do need us.

No one on this thread is giving paper crown night any credit. Those paper crowns are highly lightweight and portable. You can fold them. You can even blow your nose with them.
Haha funny but also sad as I still have one kicking around the house from years ago.

It reminds me of the old days of eating at Burger King haha.

My word that thing is ugly. I’d hold onto it also.

I read paper as thinner material than that. More like the crown in a Christmas cracker than from 90s Burger King. Now i’m just curious. I’m going to Paper Crown Night!

I have an idea.....just wait.....it's pretty good, actually:

Keep the (laughable) paper crown night, but have Burger King sponsor it......and wait......there's more:

In addition to the free (laughable) Burger King sponsored paper crowns, it's also throw-back Burger King Jersey night!

Fans not only get to see players in the throw-back Burger King Jersey, but they also get a matching paper crown.

You see Luc & Co., that's how you market.
That shows you understand the fans.
It shows you can laugh at yourself, but also respect the classics at the same time.

....but nooooooooo we can't have that, we get cowboy hats....in LA......cowboy hats.

Honestly, this is great. Tap into fanbase lore. You’re hired.

(Then tripped down the stairs for asking too many questions)
