Kings Trade for Tanner Jeannot

From everything that I have read, this guy will be no where near the Kings top 6.

His rookie season he scored a lot in the first part of the season. Many lucky and fortunate goals. Towards the end of that year, his luck ran out and his scoring dropped. It has not been seen since.

I have been doing more reading up on Jeannot and I am convinced this was an absolutely idiotic trade.

Have a read at the link below.

Thread on Jeannot

The below are a few of the posts from the above thread.
If he doesn’t work out it wouldn’t be the first time Blake has wasted a 2nd round pick in a trade.

Assuming Blake is done making moves, the roster has 3 wing spots available in the Top 9. Foegele will get one. The other two will be up for grabs with four guys competing for those minutes. Laf with his 12 goals scored last season. Turcotte with his 1 career goal. Thomas with 3 career goals. And Jeannot. Jeannot will get shifts in the Top 9. He probably will get an extended look on one of those lines out of sheer necessity.

For the record Jeannot was relatively but not particularly lucky in 21-22. He scored 24 goals with an expected goal total of 18. That 6 goal difference was 4th on the Preds. In 22-23 he scored 6 goals. His expected goal total was 15.

Did his game change or did his team/usage change? He was 4th in total minutes for forwards in Nashville to a 4th liner/healthy scratch in TB.

Nobody is claiming he played particularly well in Tampa but why are those 75 games more defining than the 152 he played in Nashville? Because someone on a message board said he sucked? Ok. He sucked in Tampa. He’s not in Tampa any longer.

Blake should not have signed Edmundson and used that money on another winger. Edmonton signed Skinner to a 1yr 3mil deal. That was a good move on their part.

He sucked his second year in Nashville as well. Hell, he sucked towards the end of his first year. He had ad a horrible April and first round of the playoffs in what was his best season. His last 19 games of his magic 21-22 season he had 1G, 1A and was a -11. His second season in Nashville was more the same. He then was traded at the deadline where he maintained that same level of play in Tampa. It was not always great in Nashville and never was in Tampa. Now he is expected to be great here?

He played with mostly the same players in Nashville. The first year he got PK and PP time. Year 2 he lost the PP and much of the PK time.

His stats and time on ice numbers align with the negative comments of the many posters from both Nashville and Tampa.

That is fine, you can believe he can hang with Kopi and Kempe. I myself am not expecting a lot from him. I fear this is another horrible mistake by Blake.

Agreed but players are taking discounts to play on Edmonton next season, Skinner being one of them. I don't think Skinner would have signed with LA for only $3m, which also goes for Arvy at $4m. Both would have wanted more to play in LA.

The Edmundson deal definitely is a mismanagement of cap space. Whomever LA has negotiating deals simply is not very good at it, but I also feel Bergevin once again is part of the problem (going after players he fixates on and getting Luc and Rob to buy in). As others have mentioned, Blake should know defensive talent better than most which makes the whole deal pretty baffling.

Yeah, I thought of that fact after posting it. Both the Leafs and Oilers (and others) were after Skinner and he went where felt he had the best chance to win the cup. At this point, and it pains me to say it....... The Oilers are looking darn good for next year.
