***LA Kings @ Chicago Blackhawks GDT 3/3/25 5:30pm on FanDuel***

What will a new coach do?

It’s an assets problem. Kopi and Keumper were carrying the team. Both are on the brink of retirement.

The young guys still need time to develop.

As the season comes to a close and the contenders start to fight for points, teams like the Kings, with massive holes like a powerless power play, will fall off the wayside.

Black hole team AT BEST.

That’s okay, just wish the Kings would accept that reality and avoid trading prospects for immediate help to do nothing but keep us in the back hole. Let Blake go and, if they do anything, sell at the deadline.

So I guess I would ask: can we get a new GM?
I want both…

They need to make big structural changes after this season to keep from ruining the younger players. It's time for the Luc/Rob/Kopi/Dewy era to end. Hiller becomes collateral damage.

:yuck:

It’s said that before a losing streak, teams win games they shouldn’t win. Well, against VGK, the Kings trailed in the third before rallying. The Utah game was not well played, though they did win. Before the break, the Kings were lucky to get a point against the Ducks. The Kings were lucky to get a point against the Canucks (down 2-0 in the 3rd) in the game which began this losing streak. The warning signs were there.

First of all, I skipped watching my first game of the season. Like I mentioned, I believe Chicago could have been favored in tonights game. The Kings did not play down to Chicago, they don't have the game right now to play down to anyone.

For everybody hoping for Blake to be relieved of his duties, this will be the last season for Blake. With the Kings not making the playoffs, changes will have to be made. Blake knows it.

I believe at least 2 of the four will be gone.

I've got St. Louis as the 2nd Wild Card team and Calgary finishes 3rd in the Pacific, behind Edmonton and Vegas. This will seal the fate of Blake and Co

The Kings are going to make the playoffs. We're still too talented and the rest of the conference is pretty crappy. That said, we're in the do nothing mushy middle. Before the season, did anyone expect anything besides a 3rd or 4th place finish and a first round elimination?

Only able to keep an eye on the score on my phone earlier, watching the replay now, yes I like to cry out loud :( Wednesday will be interesting, but I have a bad feeling about this season. GO KINGS GO!

A typical loss this season, it seems. Kings play a tight checking, offensively boring game and if the goalie has an off night they get embarrassed. Hats off to Knight, he played great.
With no bonafide scorer(s) Kings will have to win 1 goal games and hope the D and goalies shut the other team down. If not, this is the result. The last 4 games are the result.

Kings heading back home to face the Blues who handed it to them last Sat. We'll see if they can turn it around on these 5 of 6 games at home. Quality chances have to increase and Hiller needs to right this ship before the season is lost - or relegated to a wildcard spot and out in the 1st round again.

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed the under 175 games played crowd would be credited with 5 points (Turcotte 1, Dach 1, Reichel 1, Mihkeyev 2):

As noted by ChiKingsFan there's no TV and since I wasn't able to make the game I was stuck on radio where the game sounded just as miserable as it did to those watching. I'm not sure what the best we can hope for here was that sometimes a top ten tennis player gets befuddled by a 200 ranked player, because we've all seen this funk brewing further and further. March is not the time to be looking for consistency in your game, its the time to appreciate that your play is your level of consistency. B2B with the blues next, the games in hand are gone. Kings have the potential to wake up for their Sunday game against the Knights behind the blues in the standings. A team currently in 10th in the conference. I wouldn't say its time to panic, I'd say its time to realize that every time this team has had an opportunity to establish excellence or sh*t its pants...

New Prez
New GM
New Coach, though I do think Hiller is a good coach but is hamstrung by Blake
New Development Staff
New Philosophy, cuz really, what has the current one gotten us so far? dick
I agree. Even though DL couldn't adjust/adapt to the "new" NHL and handed out insane contracts and only wanted to stay big and slow instead of young, speed and skill, he at least built a team that had chemistry and an identity and got us 2 Cups.

The Kings imo need a complete overhaul. They need a new GM who is NOT part of the Kings organization and bring in someone to implement a new philosophy and style etc. So get rid of Blake. Move Luc back to a PR role. Better scouts. New coach to implement a brand new system and less dump n chase. Let the aging vets go via trade or don't re-sign them.

The Kings never did a full rebuild. They still had Kopi, Doughty, Lewis then, etc. They brought in Fiala and others instead of doing the rebuild right. Now they are still a black hole team where they will just miss the playoffs or be 1 and done like the last few years.

Overall, I just don't see an identity with this team like other teams or even how they used to have one back with DL.

At the risk of being panned I think we have the right mix of players. Just not being used correctly. PLD trade not with standing (would still like to have Vilardi) we brought in good players like Fiala, Foegele, Danault but, what pains me the most is having all those high draft picks and none of them really turning out (yet).
Yes, the team needs some tweeks but I think we have a good mix of seasoned vets, established players and energetic youth.

In the right system someone like Kempe and/or Fiala should be a 40 goal scorer ... QB a 25-30 goal scorer. IMO.

Kings are on a 4 game losing streak and still have more points in their last 10 then do CAL and VAN, +4 and +3, respectively. I’m all for ripping on the Kings right now, last night in particular was a profound waste of time. But those teams need to show more before their fanbases can look to them to take a divisional place.

Most realistically, Kings hold on to 3rd through the strength of their home game, which translates to not having home ice advantage and predictably losing in the first round again.
