***LA Kings @ Edmonton Oilers GDT 3/30/23 >>>6:00pm on BSSC (BSSoCal)<<<***

We got pushed around last night, we looked tired, we played really hard. It was fun to watch, Skinner was exceptional so was Korpi. The SN broadcast was a good reminder that Korpi basically stole the first round from the Stanley Cup candidate Maple Leafs in round 1 in the bubble - I went back and watched it on youtube and Korpi was INCREDIBLE, as he was last night.
Let me state the obvious, without a full and healthy roster we don't match up well against the Oilers. Fiala matches up well against the superstars and thrives on the competition, Vilardi plays some of his best hockey when he knows it counts and Anderson did a great job against Connor McHambone each time we've played them. It is disappointing to see the hit (which was a board but looked relatively innocent) injure one of our top D-men.

Someone mentioned it above but there certainly is a double standard for no-name D-men getting boarded vs. league darlings getting boarded. If that had been anyone remotely famous it'd been a 5+ game misconduct and a league review.

Aside from the Mikey situation, I believe Todd has started his pre-playoff strategy - rest the truly injured people and get them as healthy as possible for the playoffs. There's a <1% chance we'll miss the playoffs at this point - source: math.

Crystal ball says all players will be available for the first game against ... any other team but the Oilers (plz)

Bring the Oilers in the first round. If we can get healthy it will be fun to watch.

I didn't watch the game but saw the replay on the McDavid hit on Mikey and the biggest takeaway for me was it happened in the first two minutes of the game. McDoufus wanted to send a message at the start of the game. If the league wants the game to be less dirty then they have to do something when a player gets injured in a check like that...my 2 cents. I'm ticked and not thinking too straight. haha.

they are good enough to beat any team in the West if healthy. I think that is the goal to be healthy come game 1.

I definitely agree they are very good when the complete roster plays.

But Anderson has a concussion. As we know, there is no clear time table for return from that particular injury.

Fiala is also a question mark now. Gabe may be the first one back.

My somewhat anguished sounding post was prompted by the memory of losing Round 1 last year with a depleted roster.

Injuries are really hurting the Kings. If Fiala, Vilardi and Mickey are not back soon healthy it spells big trouble for the Kings.

The good news is on the road trip they are averaging 1 goal per game. The bad news is they are averaging 2 goals against.

Both of these players should have sat out more games. Fiala did not look comfortable in his first game back. There was no rush to bring them back. Are they going to be ready to go by the playoffs, if they make the playoffs. Management needs to listen

Last night had a big game/playoff vibe for sure. As TM said, it was a heck of a game that could have went either way. That was the best game by far that I have seen Stuart Skinner play. Hats off to him. The Kupari and Kempe chances were grade A and who knows, perhaps next time those both go in. We can't afford to have Durzi fumbling the puck around/making errant passes at the opposing teams blue line with nothing but clear ice ahead in the playoffs. In a game/playoff series where margin for error is slim, mistakes like that can easily cost your team a series.

I thought Korpisalo played great as well. Edm had many grade A chances also. I usually panic in situations like this, but I am confident the boys will get some valuable points this weekend. The playoff mentality and effort is there. Just a matter of getting a break or two and burying chances like we did in the 12 game point streak.

Go Kings!!

We all know that if Mikey had made that same hit on McDavid it would have been a major.

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed the teams would combine for 2 ppg over the two games, nobody correctly guessed they would kill 25:09:
