***LA Kings @ NY Rangers GDT 12/14/24 >>>10AM<<< on FanDuel***

Hope they leave Turcotte on the top line with Kopi and Kempe, he really is a good fit. Pretty wild that for so many seasons it was hard to find a LW to pair up with Kopi and now we have 4 good fits (Turc, Laf, Moore and Byfield).

Also the Byfield line with Jeannot and Foegele is fire. If we can get the Danault line going again when Moore gets back, the team could really do something.
And get the power play going. It has been a mess all year long. Which is kind of great since there is still room for improvement on this team.

The kids have all been amazing. The Kings are back to 2 years ago where we've got a damn solid top 9 forwards. We don't have a top line like MacKinnon-Rantenen but 3 lines where the opponents need to pick their poison with the 3rd D pair. A healthy Turcotte has been amazing. He kind of took the Kempe path of being decent but not amazing in the AHL and then fitting better at the NHL level.

Also, the defense has been great. Mikey-Gravrikov are a top pair. Clarke should get some Calder votes. I already mentioned having to eat crow on Edmundson but we can footstomp that again. And Spence and Tuna are a solid, young and low-cost pairing. There's almost an elephant in the room of how do we re-integrate Doughty and would the Kings be better served with $11M of cap space elsewhere? The Kings might have a top defense in the NHL when Drew returns.

Honestly, when was the last time we weren't saying this.

I can't remember our PP being a strong suit since maybe before the cups. I remember in the early Sutter era thinking shorties on our PK was almost a bigger threat.

Agree on Clarke, shame he isn't eligible. I'm still pretty shocked by how well he has adjusted to the NHL in such a short amount of time. Super impressive!

I still think the team is oddly better without Doughty on it as each player needs to rely on one another rather than one guy being "that guy" who they lean on. The same thing happened when Doughty was injured and, without him, the Kings took Edmonton to game 7. Nothing against him as he is a great player, but I really hope Clarke, Gav and the others don't take a big step back when he returns.

Also have to give a shoutout to Darcy. He's looked sharp since his return.

Players who move the puck well and generate assists elevate their game when surrounded by a higher class of skater and scorer. Turcotte is one of these guys, so it's not a surprise to see his game coming together. He's put in the work.

This game was like the Harlem Globetrotters against the Washington Generals. You had great plays by the Kings like Kopitar's no look pass to Kempe, and Byfield's crazy spin move. At the same time you had the complete ineptness of the Rangers. I hope we see the Kings play like this every night, even if the result won't always be this lopsided. But man, I knew the Rangers were bad. I didn't know they were this bad. Whatever happened to those WTS threads?

Well that was a fun one to watch. Took advantage of a team in disarray and padded some stats for guys who needed it. 30 games in and Kopi is on a 90+ points pace, Kempe on a ppg pace kings are on a 107 point pace. All looks good for the moment so of course as kings fans we know that this is when it gets hard. Lets keep up the pace on the roadie boys and girls. As VCRW noted the top of the pacific is really tight.

I watched the highlights last night and while Kings looked good, the Rags looked awful. Kings left WIDE open with high danger shots that went in to make up those five goals. Kopi is an ageless wonder and has the smarts and vision to pass those pucks to guys that are fast (Kempe) and crash the net (Turcotte.) Also, nice to see Byfield having a good game. We need ya, kid.
I also got to say that Kempe has really impressed me in his growth as a two way player. I would of not guessed just how much he's depended upon in D zone situations. Doesn't hurt that the guy next to him has a couple of Selke trophies (should be more...but Bergeron.)
