***LA Kings @ Pittsburgh Penguins GDT 12/17/24 4:00pm on FanDuel***

LOL! After the Kings just about scored, the Penguins announcers said "The hockey gods are on our side tonight!" Um, not so fast big guys... game ain't over yet

Ugh questionable neutral zone play in that period. Terrible job taking away the blue line. Looked they just walked in a few times.

2nd period ends. Though the Pens tied it, Turcotte eventually gave the Kings the lead back with a timely goal of his own. 20 minutes left and LA has to do a better job of protecting their lead if they want to win the game. An insurance goal or two should put this game out of Pittsburgh's reach.

The top line is really dangerous. 2 guys with breakaway speed who can both shoot in full stride, and a wise old veteran superstar. Sure hope Hiller rides that combo for the foreseeable future.

Seems those guys are as bad as the Bruins announcers in terms of homerism.
LOL! But I have to say I thought the Rangers announcers did a great job last game. These guys aren't too bad; they're actually giving the Kings a lot of credit. They're really gushing over Kempe.

Malkin doesn't look washed up to me. If anything, OTH, Crosby doesn't seem to be doing much--so far.

Karlsson, however, does look washed up, as he's far from the Norris Trophy winning D-man he was from the past several seasons. He dropped off significantly after being traded away by SJ and is past his prime. And let's not get into the defensive side of his game, of which he's been historically terrible at. He's the NHL D-man equivalent of James Harden; good offensively, but terrible defensively and also has a tendency to choke in the playoffs.

We were up in Solvang today and I missed the pregame and 1st period. Did anyone talk about TO? Is #12 close to coming back?
Solvang...nice! Did you go to my favorite restaurant for some Abelskivers? I figure without all those Abelskivers I've had in the last 30 years, I'd still be skinny.

Call it hockey IQ, or situational awareness, whatever you prefer, but Kevin Fiala has to be one of the worst NHL’ers I’ve ever seen in this respect, as far as -talented- players are concerned. The evidence? His gaff with the line change and not realizing he needed to cover for a cheating defender, making a little move at the attacking blue line to put his teammates off side, trying to feather a pass through a defender when he should be dumping it in, blazing a pass to a teammate when he should feather it, those Durzi-like cross ice passes along the blue line on the PP.. the list goes on and on.

At this point, I’m really starting to believe that the benefits do not outweigh the liabilities. In a perfect world, I’d certainly rather we had another Kempe dollar for dollar, but given the fact that Kempe is probably worth far more than his actual cap hit, I’d even take another Warren Foegele in place of Fiala.

As I’m typing this, I look up to see Fiala bobble the puck that fortuitously bounced into his feet, right in front of the opposing goalie, and he should’ve just burned that on net, rather than try to make some fancy play. Seriously, this guy is a black hole in terms of hockey awareness

We are passing up too many shot opportunities we need to be more simple get it on net like turk and score I'm tired of this fancy bunk

No. We were good. Went to lunch with friends in Santa Ynez.
Our usual routine includes either the Solvang Restaurant for those deadly fried balls of dough or The Hitching Post for steak. Been making that trip since escaping the LA riots in '92. Absolutely love it up there... also usually do Fess Parkers or Chumash.
