Because he has said it recently? And his parents said he was devastated when he got traded. But I'm sure you know better.
Sultanic finally shared the Athletic article where this was stated. It changed my mind that there was a possibility Faber would have signed after all.

OTOH, Faber sat with Blake at a Wild game in 2022. He was offered a chance to sign and play in the playoffs while Drew was out. He didn’t. This made him a riskier asset. Choices have consequences.

I find it interesting that his parents saying he was devastated to be traded in a paywall article carries more weight than the reality that he turned down helping out the team that drafted him in a high profile and high reward scenario.

Is it shocked or devasted? I'm sorry without a link it's just hearsay.

This is painful, Kings barely trying, where are the big guns??? I really dislike the ESPN announcers, reminds me of watching a Ducks game. Put Mess's dog Koda on skates for the Kings, Wake up Kings! Go Kings Go!

...they need to bank two points against this team; they play this disinterestedly against VGK tomorrow- they get their heads handed to them... again.

It’s from the Athletic. I can’t find it but they said devastated. There was also this article, where Faber says:

“I went to the Ottawa game, too, earlier in the season when we won in overtime. This was when we beat Colorado,” Faber said.

Asked if he called the Wild “we” when he was still a Kings prospect or if this was a development now that he has suddenly become a Wild prospect, Faber laughed: “No, I’ve always called them, ‘We.’ Nothing changed. I couldn’t shake it. The Wild’s always been my team.”

I still accept I don’t know everything and that perhaps Faber would have signed here after all, according to an emotional sentiment from his parents. Others will not accept that he may have ultimately decided to walk, based on an emotional sentiment from his parents, and in spite of his decision not to sign when offered or quotes like the above. And of course this (Kings prospect at the time):

They did, offered him a roster spot in the playoffs, he said no id rather play for Minnesota. Maybe he wasn't aware of the fact they had an NHL team too
But no, he was devastated. Imagine the horror of having to play every night for a team in front of family and friends.

Nil also became legal at the same time and everyone in Minny still gets mad about it being mentioned around their kids

Should we even bother to tune in for tomorrow's slaughter?
Of course, no different than going past an accident. You don’t want to look but you always do

Dunno, just going by what his family said.

And that last quote from Faber explains why Blake did what he had to do.

The kid wanted to play another year of college, from what I recall. So, are you saying Blake was pissed because he would not sign an early contract, so he dumped him the first chance he got? Then Blake had the Mayor spread some rumors making Faber sound like he wanted out.

This is the way I remember it.
