***LA Kings @ San Jose Sharks GDT 11/25/24 7:30pm on FanDuel***

I get the gloom and doom but that is only 1 loss. I wouldn't freak out too badly.

To the good, the defense has been pretty solid without Doughty. Gavrikov has really stepped up along with Anderson. Clarke shows offensive chops that we haven't had in over a decade. Edmundson has been solid and Spence has too. We will have a solid 6 defenseman when Drew is healthy.
Concerning is that Kuemper has been league average at best and Rittich has been up-and-down and was brutal last night. I don't think this is a playoff goaltending duo. At least there is no shootout in the playoffs so we won't have to see Darcy get beat on 3 straight attempts.
The bad is the forwards. Kopi has been amazing and Kempe has awoken and is playing well. Laffy has taken a step in his second year. Foegele reminds me of Williams/Iafallo in the sense that he can play first line or 3rd line and be a solid contributor. Turcotte has been good too. After that it is pure disappointment. Byfield should be a milk carton. I'll be there Saturday to be reminded again that the Kings should have drafted Stutzle. Fiala is a penalty machine. Danualt looks horrible. Jeannot was stealing when he signed that contract with Tampa. Moore looks like the 15-20 goal guy of years before last season's breakout. And the 4th line looks like a 4th line. When it comes to point shares and fancy stats, the D is really outperforming the forwards.

This team is 15th in GF and 15th in GA. They are pretty much what they were last year-- NY Islanders West. Good enough to make the playoffs, not good enough to do anything. And largely boring too. Is anyone surprised by the Kings play? (aside from folks who think we will miss the playoffs... which I don't see happening but we have had the easiest schedule to date so you do have a chance to be right).

Hard to disagree with any of that.

Such an inconsistent team in every respect...except the boring part. Even after last night debacle, I'm not in freak out mode...yet...just extremely disappointed. And my patience with Blake & Co is long gone. I can't wait until he's long gone, too.

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed within +/-2 minutes of 1:03 of the third period for the game winning goal:

19:03 2nd - 3:03 3rd (1 point)

Rog or Reg?

That game simply went from bad to worse. Even if it wasn't a home stinker I wouldn't blame anyone that boo's them when they get back for that effort.

Damn Kings couldn't even put one more goal in the net...I would hit hit the poll question almost dead-on (off by eight seconds). Also, I hate losing to any Bay Area teams, especially the Sharts. I guess the Kings thought they could play half-assed and still win. They were wrong. And they played more like one sixteenth-assed. Embarrassing. With emphasis on ass.

One has to stop wondering if the Kings are playing down to the competition and start thinking they are really just at the same level as teams like the Sharts, Sabres, Hawks and Ducks (especially if they beat us Friday). This is easily the worst loss of the season and Wednesday (I'll be there, yay!?) could be a bloodbath against the Jets. December is going to be very telling as to where this team finishes methinks...and what the fate is of some players that could very well be traded by the deadline (looking at you Phil, Kevin, and Trevor...and maybe more)
Have fun Wednesday. And who knows, with this schizophrenic team anything is possible. Even beating the Jets. Or getting embarrassed by the Sharts. The Kings are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get

Exactly. Would the real LA Kings PLEASE STAND UP!

Yes, they were embarrassed. Yes they got crushed by one of the worst teams in the NHL Now they get to play the best team in the NHL. Valardi may get the hatty on Wed. Even though I believe they will get crushed on Wed, I'll keep watching. Like Julie says, expect the unexpected.
