Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed the Kings would be credited with 26 SOG, nobody guessed 19 PIM combined:

Once they called the major I thought there was no way anyone was getting the second part of the question but I was surprised at the amount of posters who guessed odd numbers for the PIM, including @Liz4LA who was the only poster to guess all odd numbers, unfortunately for her she didn't guess 19. That was a wild game, really glad to see the team look like they were capable against a very good team. Not sure any player has gone from a more impressive first goal, to the proverbial "I'll take one off my ass" before but congrats to Malott for finally getting that first NHL goal officially. There was good and bad against a great opponent on the second night of a b2b, I think we all take the 2 points and call it good.

I missed the entire game! Had no freakin idea they even played today. Sad I missed this one.

Tough time of year to fit the Kings in...Rams season ticket holder (even a few Chargers games)...playoff tickets to the Dodgers (tonight sucked)...two new grandkids (both girls...now eight grandaughters and one grandson)...mix in a few a few concerts (Nine Inch Nails, McCartney, Wet Leg)...and some out of town business ventures (some interest in turning my book into a movie)... and somehow I miss the Kings beating Vegas...in Vegas!

This game should have been at the top of my list and I didn't even know they were playing. I usually do my best to make it to Vegas for Kings games. But I did not expect the year to start wth back-to-back games, one at home and the other on the road. That's what I get for not prioritizing my Kings and checking the road schedule.

But dammit man...sounds like it was one hell of a game!
I was at the home opener and forgot until we were on the way home that I needed to do this GDT for the back to back!!

Poor Malott!! I just learned about the "circumstances" of his first NHL goal. LOL. well, at least he finally got one that counted.
Quite a contrast from the beauty that would have been his NHL first, had it not been overturned by a squeaker of an offside call.

I’ll just put this out there into the universe.. Malott, and his 4th line compatriots, have looked more effective than several other notable wingers through the first two games. Yes, I am looking directly at you, Kempe and Laferriere.

Add Fiala to that list.

And still they are hardly allowed to touch the ice. Hiller is so stupid!!!

So, let me get this straight: The Kings played one freaking home game to start the season then went on the road? You gotta be freaking kidding.
I said it before and I'll say it again: The NHL schedule makers are smoking crack. Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to these bizarro schedules.
I would have much rather been in Vegas watching the Kings then watching the Dodgers choke that game. Even though I had a free ticket to the Dodgers, I probably spent more money on parking and concessions then I would have flying to Vegas.
Anyway I'm really happy the Kings won... sounds like it was a hell of a game!

Actually I like it, B to B is less of a problem at the start of the year.

Yeah I'm just pissed off I missed the game.

I got a free ticket to a Dodgers playoff game. I didn't really want to go, but my buddy was stuck with an extra ticket and he didn't want to go alone...way up in the reserve in the far reaches of left field. Kinda sucked.

Anyway, I've been to Vegas three times to see the Kings lose I have yet to see them win, so that pissed me off even more.

Oh well, I'm starting this season off just like last season: Miss the victories and catch the losses. So I'm still a Kings good luck charm, only in reverse.

Wow.

Also, how tf is that boarding call against Turcotte a 5 minute major? Looked less severe than about 75% of the boarding calls I’ve witnessed in 35 years of watching hockey..
Follow up to this, go watch the boarding call that Weegar just took against Petterson in the Canucks/flames game.. it was far more violent, and Petterson left the ice briefly. Other Petterson for Van then boarded Zary just a couple mins later, also violent. Both calls started as 5 min major then reduced to 2 min minor. I’m not sure what they saw in that Turcotte board last night, but it doesn’t check out compared to what I’m seeing in other games.

Yeah, I think I have seen similar hits not even get called. Warranted 2 minutes for sure. But they pulled that 5min major out of their backsides.
