GDT ***LA Kings @ Vegas Golden Knights GDT 10/8/25 >>7:00pm<< on TNT & HBOmax***

Follow up to this, go watch the boarding call that Weegar just took against Petterson in the Canucks/flames game.. it was far more violent, and Petterson left the ice briefly. Other Petterson for Van then boarded Zary just a couple mins later, also violent. Both calls started as 5 min major then reduced to 2 min minor. I’m not sure what they saw in that Turcotte board last night, but it doesn’t check out compared to what I’m seeing in other games.

I didn’t think they would uphold the major on the Patterson board because he was checked by his side. Turcotte boarded him from behind. Which wasn’t even as bad as McDiddlySquat’s on Anderson 2 seasons ago. Which injured Anderson. There is no consistency in the reffing. So freaking annoying! Especially when we play the Oilers in the playoffs.

NHL officiating is very subjective based on the individual ref in the game. I’d love to see consistency in calling embellishment, but it’s a judgement call. A few things are cut and dry, hook in the hands, stick in the skates, but not everything is that easy.

I share your frustration, but I don’t think anything can be done about it. These guys interpret infractions based on a ton of variables. Their idea of how dangerous a play is or isn’t makes a lot of difference from game to game.

I watched the game on delay, extremely late in the evening, and I was fast forwarding through the pauses so I can’t recall.. did the refs stop the game for the boarding review, and do the whole video/headset thing, before determining to uphold the five minute major?

They discussed during commercial break. Was only 2 before that.
