***LA Kings vs. Montreal Canadiens GDT 2/5/25 7:30pm on FanDuel***

Congratulations to the Kings and anyone that was lucky enough to be at the Crypt last night. Way back before the events of Janaury, I had this one circled on my calendar (alng with the Ducks Stauday) as games I wanted to attend, but alas, such is life.

Bu man what a game...and what a way to open the game...8 shots on goal in 99 seconds! I don't know if they keep stats on something like that, but it has to be a Kings record. I sure as heck don't remember seeing anything like that before.

So happy for Fiala, who came a post away from a hattie. His puck-handling and sniping were next level. QB played well too, as did Laffy and Moore, who all played with a ton of energy. And how cool was that penalty shot, the first of Foegele's career?

To all the posters here that were at the game, I'm green with envy.

Nick actually mentioned it was some NHL record that has been unbeaten in years.
Yeah, that was great info. One sad thing about this season will be the last year of Nick doing the broadcast. I've really enjoyed Nick and Fox this season. They've been great at passing along the stats. Also, there was the icing where Kopi tipped the puck near the redline. They said it was a missed call by the refs and then corrected themselves after watching the video. Similarly, there were some of the waived off goals due to offsides during the recent road trip from hell where I thought our crew was very fair in saying the call would probably go against us. I listen to a lot of homer broadcasts on ESPN+. Nick and Jim do a great job of supporting the Kings but being honest too. (side note: I watched Caps-Oilers a couple weeks ago and the Oilers announcers kept saying how Logan Thompson was so lucky to make saves and the Oilers would get a goal soon. Caps won 3-2. The whole time I'm smh because Thompson and Helly are the only 2 goalies in the NHL with a GSAA above 20. The Oilers homers must think the guy has lucked into a 24-2-4 record. Our crew is so refreshingly good compared to some of these clown shows).

Fiala/QB/Laffy all studs in that game. I don't know the last time I saw that many SKILL goals and nice ONE TIMERS which has been so lacking or if the Canadiens just suck, but it was nice to see. Also lol at Moore hitting the side of the net on a completely open net... If him and Danault can get it together the possibilities of losing to the Oilers are endless! Also FWIW I really like Kuemper and his net presence - he defends himself and the crease well which I always appreciate in a goalie.

Laffy skating top speed, hitting the breaks at the left circle, finding Fiala all the way across the ice for a goal. Holy crap! That was slick! My jaw dropped on that one.
Laffy-QB-Fiala line has played great the last 2 games.

If they can continue to play like that, the Kings will really have a solid set of forwards. Kopi with Juice and Turcotte is a nice first line which plays a 200 foot game. QB line playing with speed. Danault centering Moore and Foegele is an excellent 3rd line if 12 and 24 can get back to their historical scoring rates. And then the 4th line is totally meh.

Hopefully playing with QB continues to unlock the scoring in Fiala. And getting the ENG takes some pressure off of Moore. Kings are now 16-3-1 at home.

I honestly think Moore needs Vilardi back on the team. He flourished with Gabe on the ice. heh

I like the balance of these 3 lines now that Fiala has found his game. It really unlocks so many other pieces. My biggest issue with these lines is Moore. The game he’s playing this season doesn’t fit.

If Blake can find a right shot to play next to Danault and on the PP that top 9 is very solid.

Moore’s strong forecheck possession game was back last night. Best he has looked in a while.

Wow! Thanks, I must have missed that.
The Canadiens looked like they were in shock:

"Who are these guys?"

Meanwhile, the Kings looked like they were shot out of a cannon. Kinda feel sorry for the Montreal goalie.

Nick has been fantastic this season. I'm really enjoy listening to him again. I've always liked the guy. Such a bummer this is his last season. And Jim's been great too. They're a perfect broadcasting combo.
I sure hope Foxy returns next year. It just won't be the same without him in the booth.

Great night and great effort to blow the habs out of the water. Granted there were moments of flukeyness but glad to see the team undeterred by an ass to noggin sequence. I had the first on radio but made it back in time for the second. Byfields effort was tremendous and it's funny that after the game I was lamenting his two breaks in on net where he missed as opposed to his 3 point night. Great to see Fiala on a heater, and Clarkes shot from the point was nothing to scoff at. Nick mentioned it but 22 of 32 at home to go. Time to take care of business.

Agreed. Moore had a gimme goal and he completely missed. Must be in his own head this season.

I thought Kuemper played a pretty weak game relative to his normal performances. I feel like he should have saved their last two goals - one from way out and their last goal where he saw the shot all the way. Glad we still picked up the win.

That second goal really was weird. I'd love to hear him explain what happened on it. My supposition is that he never knew the shot was coming, which is highly unusual for an NHL goalie of his caliber.
