***LA Kings vs. Ottawa Senators GDT 11/30/24 >>4:00pm<< on KCAL Ch9 (& Spanish radio)***

Missed the first period.
I was hanging upside down in a tree.

I'm going to enjoy this game more than any game I've ever seen in my life.
Not to get into personal stories but this is one worth telling. I should be dead. I fell off of a cliff today and ended up 25 ft down hanging upside down in a tree with both my dogs hanging in the tree on their leashes.
This was witnessed by five college kids, all athletes, and their equally athletic girlfriends, who formed a human chain down the mountainside and pulled me out of the tree then rescued my dogs. This happened two hours ago. If those college kids hadn't witnessed my fall I still be up there in the tree hanging upside down at least 40 ft down to the next switch back, a sheer drop into space.
I'm a little bruised and battered and scratched up but it's nothing short of a miracle I'm alive. I owe my life to those kids.
I wasn't planning on having a drink tonight. That game plan has been altered
Reg, Reg, Reg - you and your adventures! Glad they got the win for you and very glad all is safe in your world.

Anyhow, slick back to back wins. Now I can watch a movie and avoid having a pumpkin pie coma, haha. :dancingturkey:

I love to hike, but I gotta start being more careful. I like adventures, but hanging upside down in a tree is a bit too adventerous.

I blame the Kings and the NHL for these bizarre start times. Either I'm speeding on a freeway or boogeying down a hill trying to make the game. I knew the Kings would kill me one day one way or another.

Man I remember your bear story from a season or two ago. Gotta live life - key is keep living it!

But yeah these start times are crazy. I’ve missed most Sat games myself because of it. But not tonight. Not only was it a win it was a fun game - good to see one of those again.

I totally get it Rog or Reg I moved to Colorado five years ago. Thinking I would have great opportunities to be outdoors, but at 65 and the efforts living where I’m at 6500 feet have pretty much limited my changed goals . Be safe adapt live long

Thanks! Yeah, I'm very very happy I got to enjoy the game tonight!

Hiking is an inherently dangerous activity. Even experienced hikers can have mishaps. I was hiking the day Julian Sands went missing on Baldy. Sands was a dedicated mountaineer and he fell off a trail and died.

Gravity is a bitch. All it takes is one minor misstep and gravity takes over. It all happens so fast. I got very lucky today. And those kids are heroes, even risking their lives going back for my dogs.

There are still a lot of good people in this world.

I love the mountains...that's why I'm up here. But at 66 years old, I need to start re-thinking my game plans. You can only get lucky so many times.

My cousin, a beautiful girl, married a rich man and lives in a huge ranch in Golden Colorado. It may be the nicest place I have ever seen. They even have their own lake. Colorado is awesome...but I think 6500 feet may be a bit much. Right now 6 feet seems kinda high......

Love Golden. I’m in Castle Rock south of Denver so many outdoor opportunities. I’ve adjusted but sea level not as easy I thought so too. Mountains vs Beaches. When you go back to the coast you have an oxygen advantage over your friends, which is pretty fun. You visit let me know it will be a party

Omg… I’m sure glad you and the dogs got rescued.

Good win for the Kings. I admit, I did not know there was a game today. I thought I checked the schedule and the next game was on Wed. My daughter who is home for Thanksgiving says "I can't believe Dad is not watching the Kings game." I asked her, what game and she says Ottawa. I record all the games, so I just finished watching the game. Well done Kings.

Thanks Liz.
I'm still shaking and it's been a few hours now. I'm trying to process what happened and assess the damage which is all relatively minor which once again is nothing short of a miracle.
It all happened so fast ...1 minute I was on the hiking trail next minute I had no idea where I was and I realized I was upside down in a tree a considerable way down the mountain. I heard one of the girls yell "Call called 911 and get search and rescue up here!" and one of the guys said no we can't wait that long so they ran all the way back up the trail... had to be 600 ft to the Switchback above me...and formed a human chain and pulled me up then went back down and got my dogs.
I can't believe I'm still shaking . That was a close one. And this beer tastes better than ever.
Prayers to you and your dogs, glad all is well. The Kings need to get another Cup for your adventure! be safe and be well!

Just got home from a "required" Friendsgiving dinner, without much liquid satisfaction, my son and I did our best to keep an eye on the final minutes of the game and so very very very very happy for the win! WOOOHOO, Go Kings Go! few days off to get ready for another win Wednesday, please!

Thanks!
I think I'm actually more scared right now than I was when it happened. I was pretty shook up...all I remember is looking down from the tree and saying "Please God don't let me die!" when I saw how far I was above the next plateau.
I can't believe they went back down for my dogs, but he cracked me up...the one big guy that actually grabbed me and grabbed my dogs said. "Sir, the dogs were no problem at all...not compared to dragging you up the hill."
I'm 220 lbs. I can't believe they were strong enough to pull me all the way up to the trail.
The tree I fell into had burned in a fire and the backpack saved me from being impaled by the branches. The branches penetrated almost all the way to my spine, but I was being held up by the straps until they got down and grabbed me.
I think it's a safe to say that was a full-blown card-carrying Jesus miracle. The feeling of being dragged back up the hill was both surreal and terrifying.
