***LA Kings vs. Washington Capitals GDT 3/13/25 7:30pm on FanDuel***

On other news, wow, the Kraken's Montour just scored the fastest overtime goal in NHL history: four seconds into the OT period and beating the Habs 5-4.

Wow that’s awesome. I’ll need to look up that goal because that’s real quick off a starting faceoff in any situation.

This 4th line has an actual identity now; a purpose. I want a little more -mean- from Jeannot and Helenius, though. Trevor Lewis should never see the ice for this team ever again.
100 percent. Lewis out of the lineup is already addition by subtraction. Having two heavy hitters is what you want on a 4th line and Turcotte’s responsibility keeps them all from getting too loose.

Tonight the Kings said NO-vetchkin! This was a great win, one of the best all season. They shut down the Caps completely. I’m really glad we won this game. The last time we played that was a scheduled loss. This told better how we matched up. And all the guys who scored are guys who’ve been scoring. And the best part about tonight is now we’re 2nd place in the Pacific. Suck it, Soilers!

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed that Foegele would be credited with the game winning goal:

I'm not sure it was the best they've played all year but it sure seemed like a game they showed they wanted to win the most all year. There was no sitting back at any point, just constantly pushing on a team and never letting them catch their breath. Not that the Caps didn't have a couple moments, but for once the Kings didn't let them have them, they had to work for them. Now we just hope they don't hang the mission accomplished banner for getting to 2nd place. Huge tremendous effort and we definitely all get to soak that one in. Still think its hilarious that the only 2-1 they get a shot on goal, it turns into a goal. Had at least 3 others with no shot. Foegele with a beauty of a game winner, Fiala putting down a cross ice PP goal, Q with 5 straight and a 2-1 goal, and Kuemper with the shut out......oh yeah and SUCK IT PLD

Also possibly the Kings best game all season? No lapses, everyone contributing, good faceoff wins. And for once we didn't blow the shutout with 30 seconds left in the game.
Pure domination. Between Ovi, Wilson and Strome, they had ONE shot total. The entire Caps team appeared to be in shock. They'weren't expecting this from the Kings. You could almost hear them on the bench:

Why can we play like today outside of Los Angeles?
Who can explain me that?
it's generally more difficult to play on the road, but i think a fair amount has to do with getting last change and getting the matchups you want, especially on our D pairs. Clarke is heavily sheltered on zone starts, and spence is generally getting favorable offensive zone starts as well. Gavrikov and Anderson have been getting the lion's share of defensive zone starts for a reason. Kopi and Danault have been getting significant defensive zone draws as well and both are better at draws this season than Q.

I'd love to see a breakdown of possession and offensive zone time for the Kings between road and home games.

FWIW, some of it is probably a bit of luck as well.
