GDT ***LA Kings @ Winnipeg Jets GDT 10/11/25 >>10:30AM<< on FanDuel***

That’s a pretty unrealistic view of real life. Do you think athletes are robots? Juice has averaged 35 goals over the last 4 years and led the team in points for the last 2 seasons. One would think the Kings would be falling all over themselves to re-sign him.

Instead, Holland is playing silly games…

“Maybe he should go” my ass… best player on the team… please…
Character means a lot in my "unrealistic view of life." Negotiations are part of the game, and it's not like they've threatened to trade him or let him walk. There is still plenty of time to get a new deal done. If he's going to mope and not play 100% until its done, yes I have a problem with that.

UNPOPULAR OPINION:
Replace Kopitar from #1 power play unit. Insert Clarke.

I'll hang up and listen off the air.

I dont think it is a bad idea at all. I didnt get to see much of the game today but Kopi is often very passive on the power play. When Perry inserts that is another player that will slide in.

Yeah Ceci let's the forward slip behind him way too much. Hopefully he can correct this as the season goes on.

Dumoulin doesn't look great but doesn't look bad either. He's actually a lot better in the offensive zone than I thought he would be.

The guy is 31 years old and is playing in his 13th NHL season. If he has not corrected his bad play yet, it is not going to happen.

Over the past years, one of the best things the Kings had going for them against the Oilers in the playoffs, was Mr. Cody Ceci.

I mean he was a -16 over the last 3 playoff seasons. Who would have guessed that he was not good on Defense?

You do realize that 96-11-9 all have 3 points and are leading the team in scoring.

Juice wanted the new contract signed before the season started. He was eager to stay. Holland is screwing the pooch.

It’s only been 3 games… you are making it sound like he has been dogging it for a whole season.

I never said he was dogging it. It was you who brought it up as a possibility (re-quoted below). I was merely stating that I had a problem with it if what you said was true. I really don't think my position is that controversial, but I digress.

Kempe has a good reason for his apparent ennui. I would be very unmotivated if I were in his shoes… he is getting the shaft from Holland.

Kings didn’t embarrass themselves like they did in Game 1 and half of Game 2. So in that sense this was a much better performance. They still lost but at least the guys had fun.

I agree that Juice didn’t look like himself in the first game. I cut him some slack because Holland is playing games. However, he has looked just like Adrian Kempe in the last 2. He leads the team in SOG and co-leads in points. And Kempe also leads the forwards in TOI. To imply that the guy who should be the next Captain is lacking in character is absurd.

No one could have seen this train wreck coming.

NO. ONE.

Agree with your last sentence. Kempe should definitely be signed for 8 years, whatever it costs, and named the next captain. Juice is a stone cold killer, and -hates- to lose. Byfield, much like Dewey, is not captain material. Kid is just too goofy

And this while playing on really good teams that had good playoff runs. The deal Holland gave him is beyond stupid!

I think Dumoulin looks decent but Ceci is absolute trash in front of his own net.
If this disaster continues we’ll just have to waive him, try to forget about him and accept the cap hit as a sort of cap penalty like the Suter/Parise ones Minnesota had. Addition by subtraction…

I read an article about Floridas success the last couple of years. Several times it mentioned that one of the biggest reasons where that everyone felt involved since all 4 lines was given ice time. This also allowed a player like Marchand to play like 5 minutes less than he did in Boston, but the minutes he played were better ones since he felt fresh all the time.

Meanwhile our so called coach continues to mistrust the 4:th line and overplay an older Kopitar. In 3 game this far, Turcotte has played 07:09, 07:08 (although in this one he got the 5 min penalty) and 06:34 minutes. Last night Kopitar played 21 minutes…

Yes, we can be angry about some of the players performance. Rightfully so, but it’s the LA Kings coaches, GMs and upper management that is killing this team!!

I agree, I've had enough of Hiller--the worst bench coach in the league.

Is this good

I mentioned in the last game thread that they were leading the Kings in shame at -4, so it's nice that they only dropped -1 this game instead of the previous -2 average. Maybe they'll only end the season at -25 instead of -40.

I cannot fathom what possible reason could be used to justify this incredibly bad signing. I find this potentially the worst free agent signing that I can remember, as they had all the data necessary to see that Ceci especially is TERRIBLE. There is no excuse for a 4.5M cap hit. None. I am very down on Holland at the moment, and I'm trying to give him a chance, but it seems every decision he makes is the wrong one, and a head scratcher. Is he still trying to get the Oilers a cup?

Three games and people are posting "train wreck?" Three tough teams and going into today we were gonna be 2-1 or 1-2. Goodness the season has just started. Sometimes teams start slow and sometimes fast. Look at the Oilers last year... they were a mess at the start. Lets see where the teeter totter lands after 10 and 20 games before bringing out the train whistle.

But in Hiller’s case it isn’t ”just 3 games”. I’m pretty sure no one has forgot about the absolute train wreck ending of last season. That might been the worst coaching I’ve ever seen during my 40 years of watching hockey…

Hiller and the management group has had the whole summer to evaluate the season ending disaster and absolutely NOTHING indicates that he/them has learned one bit.

And as Ice Rhino writes above about the Ceci signing, how is it possible with all the facts/data that they had to give out a contract like that to a proven bad defenseman while (as it seems) arguing with Kempe, our best player, over 0.5-1 million!

That is why I ”overreact” already!

I have a hard time getting excited about anything Kings this year with Hiller as coach.
