GDT ***LA Kings @ Winnipeg Jets GDT 10/11/25 >>10:30AM<< on FanDuel***

The guy is 31 years old and is playing in his 13th NHL season. If he has not corrected his bad play yet, it is not going to happen.

Over the past years, one of the best things the Kings had going for them against the Oilers in the playoffs, was Mr. Cody Ceci.

I mean he was a -16 over the last 3 playoff seasons. Who would have guessed that he was not good on Defense?

Thanks, I have never really paid attention to him prior to this season so wasn't sure if the habit of letting the forward slip behind him was normal or not. Based on your response it sounds like it is which is very concerning. He also does a good job of screening our goalie as well which is far from ideal.

Seems like a player who has to be utilized very strategically as he does have strengths (physical presence, strong the board and good at breaking up neutral zone plays) but not sure how the Kings are going to overcome holes in his fundamentals.

Truly an odd signing, given the term and price. Spence was honestly better, despite his small size.

He f***ing sucks. Which is what everyone who follows hockey said all summer long. It isn't rocket science here. The signing was panned by virtually every pundit. And it has gone as the masses expected. "Maybe he'll play better in a 3rd pairing role" ignores the fact that Ceci isn't very good and you don't pay 4 x 4.5M for that level of play.

Holland made the team bigger and heavier but that's not an improvement if the defense is easy to get behind for a high danger chance or goal. Fast teams must be salivating to play the Kings. The 3rd pairing is very slow and Edmundson and Clarke are slow as well.

Between the idiotic signings this summer and the contract shenanigans with Kempe, it is hard to be very enthusiastic about this team.

Three games and people are posting "train wreck?" Three tough teams and going into today we were gonna be 2-1 or 1-2. Goodness the season has just started. Sometimes teams start slow and sometimes fast. Look at the Oilers last year... they were a mess at the start. Lets see where the teeter totter lands after 10 and 20 games before bringing out the train whistle.

Many of us though that the train was set to wreck when Holland signed Ceci to that stupid deal. We spoke up then and we are speaking up now.

No, not three games. These are the concerns that were brought up last season and during the off season. Hiller's coaching decisions and lack of play for the 4th line. The overpriced signing of poor defencemen. The lack of signing for a top forward. Poor power play execution.

I'm not saying the team stinks, or that it's a 'train wreck.' I'm saying that there are LEGIT issues that have been brought up for months that are in clear evidence during the first three games of the season. As things stand right of this moment it is difficult to get behind the coach and the GM.

I thought it yesterday and I still think it now. This is a good team, they are playing a brutal opening schedule. The room and the coaching should be veteran enough to handle both.....

Yeah I was never impressed with Ceci and knew it was a bad deal from the jump, but I didn't know how flawed his fundamentals seem to be. I had some hope seeing as how he logged heavy minutes during Dallas' playoff run last season but man...

Guess we will see if Hiller is as good of a coach as he thinks he is.

Sounds like they switched up some D pairs. Dumoulin and Doughty paired up at practice. Anderson and Ceci as well.
