And sadly, crap like Grown Ups 2 is going to turn a profit. I'm not saying Pacific Rim is a bad movie, I'm saying that it is going to get someone at the studio that paid for it fired. How Jax can play Shinji anyway?

While I do enjoy Family Guy this didn't do it for me. It had a couple of funny scenes (and Flash MFin' Gordon!) but the movie as a whole wasn't entertaining or engaging enough to keep me interested.

I'm a casual anime fan and quite liked Akira. It's dark with some stunning visuals and animation, that's for sure. And it's light on that childish humor that ruin so many anime movies and shows for me. Good stuff.
12 Angry Men
I had to watch this eventually, it being the 7th highest rated movie on IMDB and all. It was interesting enough for a movie that almost exclusively takes place in a single room and is solely driven by dialogue, but it didn't grab me the way I had hoped. I can see why people love it and you've got to respect a movie this well made that's over 50 years old but one of the best of all time? You had to be there, I guess.

I like submarine movies and I thought one starring Ed Harris, David Duchovny, William Fichtner and Lance Henriksen (though barely) had a decent shot at being a nice cult hit. It's about the crew of a Soviet submarine on a secret mission. But it just wasn't very good. The dialogue was quite stiff and in need of a rewrite, no one talks like that. Despite being Soviet, it felt very American. They chose not to have the actors try a Russian accent, which is a choice I respect since it can become a bit campy, but they needed to figure out some way to make the movie feel Russian other than have every other scene feature shots of vodka. Also they had nothing but praise for America which is curious during the height of the cold war. It is "inspired by real events" but that interpretation must be incredibly loose. I won't spoil the ending but thinking about it I think they took some serious liberties in this one.

I had no idea who Truman Capote was but Philip Seymour Hoffman was tremendous as him, easily the best part of the movie. The rest is so-so. It'd probably have been better had I known who the guy was.

Just got back from a midnight screening of The Conjuring. Holy ****ing **** this movie was ****ing fantastic! There aren't many movies that can maintain a highly tense and creepy atmosphere from start to finish but this one pulls it off magnificently. It's a tossup between this and Evil Dead for best horror movie of the year.
V/H/S/2 was a nice sequel. I think I still like the first one better but it's still worth seeing. My favorite vignettes were from Eduardo Sanchez and Gregg Hale (both from the Blair Witch Project).

Spring... Break... ers = Worst movie I've seen since "Passion Play". I want the stain of its crappiness forever erased from my brain. Ugh.

A very bizarre low budget film centered on a screwed up back country community that's well worth a view for horror fans. It had some shockingly great performances for a low budget film. Some cheesy aspects/effects of the plot that I won't give away do detract from the suspense.
First time watching this, solid black comedy although admittedly I didn't laugh as much as I thought I might. Shockingly politically incorrect but I expected that. Glad I've finally seen it.

I don't think James Franco and Mila Kunis could have been less enjoyable in their roles but I'm not sure if it was them being miscast or the inane dialogue. Other than the "China Girl", there wasn't a single character I liked. I don't know what Sam Raimi was thinking here.
The first one was great mainly due to a superb job by Patrick Fabian so my expectations were lowered for this one since I knew he couldn't return. Talk about lowering the bar. This was a disaster. While the lead was fine again, the movie itself is a jumbled mess and I was more bored than anything else waiting for the nonsense to end.
Not sure why I put off seeing this movie but I'm glad I've finally seen it. Absolutely loved it, more drama than comedy to me about a man living a mundane and somewhat unfulfilled life when he is unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer. Watching his day to day thoughts, actions, and relationships and how they were effected by this drastic life event was extremely thought provoking. I have no problem admitting it made me sad and depressed but I still love how well the movie was done.

Hard to describe this one. Can't really compare it to anything. Truly original. The little girl who is the lead character is absolutely stunning and so is every other actor in this movie. Just see it. It's magic.

Yeah...it had absolutely none of the 'subtle charms' of the original. I puked in my mouth a bit watching it. Just 'makes ya wanna shower'. We will always have Trash Humpers(you were there right???)
