No lie brother...always loved Brenden Gleeson, but this movie soooooo made me look at Colin Farrell differently. Ralphe Fiennes too. Such a great great movie.

Marty is a struggling writer intent on finishing his screenplay, “Seven Psychopaths.” He just needs a little inspiration which he soon finds in his unscrupulous best friend Billy, an unemployed actor who steals dogs for the reward money. But when Billy kidnaps the beloved Shih Tzu of a maniacal crime boss, Marty finds himself thrust into a twisted criminal underworld filled with more madness and violence than he ever could have imagined.

Seven Psychopaths is the latest dark comedy from Academy Award-winning writer/director Martin McDonagh (In Bruges), and features an all-star ensemble cast including Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, Woody Harrelson, Academy Award-winner Christopher Walken, Tom Waits and Abbie Cornish.

Very excited to have preview passes to McDonagh's first movie since(I think)...look at that cast. I expect it to be a 3/4's done version(if that), but still...very excited. Wish Mickey Roarke had taken the gig as the dog owning gangster(depending on who is speaking it was written for him) still...

and you should. Totally rewatchable!!!!

It certainly is. I've watched it at least 10 times. Might have to watch it again later today. Gleason and Fiennes are two of my favorite actors, can't go wrong with those two. Not sure if there's an actor out there that can play a more sympathetic bad guy.

Watched this yesterday, it was real interesting for a while but fizzled out at the end. Kind of a shame since it was pretty damn intriguing and could have been good if the writing was better.

Ok so a priest who can't connect('Stevie' from Eastbound & Down) reaches out to his sister's ex boyfriend who's 'touring' for a rafting fling. They meet two broken english Japanese girls escorting a black man(named Jim) on a river rafting journey to 'free' him. Their names are Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. Nobody is what they are made out to be, heads explode...and then it gets weird. Not real sure what the point was, but it was well acted and I think I enjoyed it.

This...not so much. Argentinian flick that establishes a nice groove about escaped revolutionaries and some expired dynamite...only to abandon that and basically have 2 creepy old guys luring in young girls, slathering them in unstable nitro, and basically playing a game they played as kids by torturing frogs. No suspense and just a lot of wasted time.

Don't know why I thought this was a hitchcock flick...Made for TV(or at least it was played a lot on tv in my youth) by Richard Curtis(Trilogy of Terror). This version is about a 1/2 hour longer than the one I saw as a kid. A little slow...but it's a throwback/slow burn movie. Pretty effective and it has that special something that older movies have. Nice stinger of an ending and a reminder that, in older days, movies were not afraid to punish/torture/kill children. The transfer is horrible...basically because I think a lot of the stuff that was excised for time on tv got lost(the negatives). Shame really. One of, if not Bette Davis' last performance(she's really good), nice work by Oliver Reed, a great score...and just some nice little dread. If you are old like me and you can appreciate a movie out of time like this, give it a go. Oh yeah, and I love you Stephen King, but if you try to deny this movie(1974) inspired The Shining...I call you liar.

As a childhood fan of Vincent Price I have decided to rewatch some of his work, in some cases, for the first time since my childhood. I started w/this one...no reason. Man, what a fun ride. So quaint...so old fashioned. Roger Corman directing Price(in all three short stories as well as narrating the ties), Basil Rathbone(clearly at the end-ish and collecting a check) and Peter Lorre, who almost singlehandedly steals things. Oh, and they are all Poe stories. Man oh man...that dude had some major issues with love and loss in his life as well as almost all his stories being love letters to alcoholism. Anyway, it's not classic...at times(especially and strangely, the third story that anchors the whole movie) it falls flat. But it's so worth seeing just for the second story The Black Cat, that has Lorre facing off against Vincent Price. Oh, and Price plays a foppish wine-tasting dandy to the hilt. Almost could see Dan Ackroyd parodying the part...it's that over the top. And it's ****ing loveable. VP was without peer. The guy was a Shakespearean actor who soooo got the joke. And Lorre matches him bit for bit. LOVE this movie just for that second act. And cudos to Roger Corman. Most people simply think of him as that guy who made diy flicks on the cheap, but I have a lot of respect for his skills after watching this.

I still can't figure out why you thought Burnt Offerings was directed by Hitch, but I have some theories. :smoke:

But, yeah, it has some of my favorite people..Reed...Black...Davis...Meredith...slow burning creepy...and that ending! :O

I think my dvd has a commentary track that I have yet to listen to.

If it's the same one I have, yeah...Richard Curtis has a nice informative track. Yeah, the ending was so awesome. The transfer IS horrible though. Yours too right? Color/brightness fade in and out and the sound levels drop out a lot too. Never fails to amaze me...you KNOW you should leave...or not even take the place...and yet you do. Man...first sign of a haunted house I am Eddie Murpy-ing***/Feets don't fails me now. But white people always stay...WHY???

*** do some research, I believe the official quote was 'Nice house...gettttttttouuuuuutttttt...gotta go!'

I really liked this flick. Guess I'm a sucker for those haunted house with horrible history films and this was one of the better ones I've seen.

This on the other hand was one of the worst ones I've seen of that variety. Had some potential but was flat out boring with no big climax or anything. Basically a waste of a couple hours.

I really liked this one. Pathology is about a group of young doctors who murder random people in their spare time. Was thoroughly engrossed throughout the entire film. Not the movie for everyone, as there are some really graphic scenes, but if you like films like Confessions and The Killing Gene you'll probably enjoy this one too.
